FOREWORD

Special Section on the Architectures, Protocols, and Applications for the Future Internet

Modern Internet services have evolved tremendously compared to the early days. With high-speed wireless and optical communications as the infrastructure and using machine learning on the premise of cloud systems, social, commercial, governmental, and industrial systems and services have been all provided based on the Internet and will continue to be provided to the following future.

Under these circumstances, the editorial board of this special section was organized to form a forum for seeking and discussing new insights into more sophisticated future generation computer systems and ser- vices based on the Internet. In response to our call for paper, 12 papers were submitted, and after rigorous peer review, 10 papers were finally accepted for publication. Each of the accepted papers is very interest- ing, and this special section as a whole has come to consist of a wide range of fields. In addition, we are very pleased to be able to publish a very attractive invited paper from abroad.

The editorial board would like to appreciate all the authors for submitting their valuable papers and all the reviewers who completed the review process in a short period of time. It would be our great pleasure if this special issue could be beneficial to our readers.
