113. ITE Trans. on MTA Vol. 9, No. 2, p. 113 (2021). Editor-in-Chief Junichi Akita. Copyright © 2021 by ITE Transactions on Media Technology and Applications (MTA). It is a great pleasure to introduce the special section "Advanced Image Sensor Technology" in the Transactions on Media Technology and Applications (MTA). The objective of the special section is focus on the advances in image sensor technologies. Initially, we called for papers in the following areas:. Welcome to the Special Section on Advanced Image Sensor Technology. · CMOS image sensors, CCD image sensors, and related technologies. · Application specific image sensors · Novel architecture, operation and materials for imaging devices. · Invisible imaging devices (IR, UV, X-ray, high-energy particles, ions, etc.). · Machine vision · Others. Associate Editors Yutaka Hirose Panasonic Takashi Komuro Saitama University Kazuhiro Shimonomura Ritsumeikan University Keiichiro Kagawa Shizuoka University Takashi Tokuda Tokyo Institute of Technology Rihito Kuroda Tohoku University Shigeyuki Imura NHK Yuichiro Yamashita TSMC Takeo Maeda SensAI Yukinobu Sugiyama Hamamatsu Photonics. Hiroshi Sekine Canon Toru Kondo Olympus Hisayuki Taruki Toshiba Ryohei Funatsu NHK Satoru Adachi Olympus Toshinori Otaka Gpixel Japan Daisuke Fujisawa Mitsubishi Electric Yasuhisa Tochigi Sony Semiconductor Solutions Madoka Nishiyama Nikon. Editor-in-Chief Junichi Akita Kanazawa University. Secretary Masayuki Ikebe Hokkaido University. MTA Editorial Committee members list (Vol. 9, No. 2, 2021). With the great effort made by the associate editors in the guest editorial committee and anonymous reviewers, we have finally selected three high quality papers including two invited paper contributed from the leading researchers in the field. We are very grateful to all the authors who have submitted their excellent works to this issue and all the guest editors and reviewers. We hope that this special section will promote research in boundary fields.
