「相模原ごみDE71大作戦」を実施しています。
これは、平成20年度の１人１日あたりの家庭ごみ排出量が572gであったことを受け、平成
30年までに480gにすること（約100gの減量）を目標に行っているものです。
減量目標達成に向け、更なるごみと資源の分別にご協力をお願いいたします。

plastic containers and packaging, we can reduce the amount of garbage. Rise

What does
“Gomi DE71”
mean?
Sagamihara City’s “Mission: Sagamihara Gomi DE71” strategy is designed to protect the
global environment by reducing garbage by one lemon’s worth (approximately 100
grams) per person by 2018. The amount of garbage per person in FY2008 was 572 grams, so we are aiming to reduce that to
480 grams per person. Your cooperation in properly sorting garbage and recyclables to help reach our garbage reduction goal
would be deeply appreciated.

Eligible items: Compost containers and kitchen processing bins that cost over ¥2,000 (electric dry type/bio type, compost container type, sealed-type container) Eligibility: Residents; one electric dry type/bio type container per household (or up to two compost container type or sealed-type containers)
Subsidy amount: *Up to half of the purchase price (rounded down to an even hundred yen; maximum of ¥30,000)
Other: Items purchased at stores outside of Sagamihara City or via the Internet (note: only if a receipt is issued) are also eligible.

Recycle Square is a facility where you can learn about why it is so vital to avoid waste and study the 4 Rs (refuse, reduce,
reuse and recycle). We hope all residents will think about the 4 Rs!
The city refurbishes usable furniture that was taken in as large-size garbage and puts it on display. These items are available to city residents by lottery.
Display period: From the 1st to the 20th of each month, without holiday (but from the 6th through the 20th in January and the 1st to the 18th in February)
Hours: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Application: Residents of junior high school age or older (only one item per person per facility)
Announcement of lottery results: At 1 p.m. on the 21st of each month (the 19th in February) Note: The results will be posted at the facility, and the winner will be notified by postcard. Pick-up period: No later than the 28th of the month after the lottery announcement is made (the 26th in February)

Items measuring less than fifty centimeters per side are considered household garbage or recyclables, while those measuring fifty centimeters per side or larger are considered large-sized garbage.Electrical items
Items measuring less than thirty centimeters per side are household garbage, while those that are thirty centimeters per side or larger are considered large-size garbage. However, electrical items that can fit into the opening of the collection box (the deposit box opening measures 30 cm wide × 15 cm high) located at public facilities and shops in the city are collected as used small household appliances (see page 17).

Note: Some items are considered large-size garbage regardless of their size (see page 21).
■ Be sure to sort items properly
Please sort items according to type (household garbage, dry-cell batteries, recyclables, plastic containers and packaging) and take them to the
garbage and recyclable collection station.
■ Use the designated bag
So that the contents can be seen, please always use transparent or semitransparent bags for disposal. Never dispose of items in dark-colored
bags or cardboard boxes that prevent the contents from being visible.
■ Take your garbage out on the designated collection day
Do not dispose of items on days other than the designated collection day or at night (except for neighborhoods with night collection).
■ Take your garbage out at the designated time
Take items to the collection station by 8:30 a.m. on the designated collection day (except for neighborhoods that collect household garbage and
dry-cell batteries at night).

Be Careful When Disposing of Hazardous Garbage!
Hazardous garbage can lead to injury of collection staff or to fires in the collection trucks. Be sure to follow the rules when disposing of hazardous items.
Wrap blades in newspaper or thick paper, and dispose of them with household garbage
Use the contents of lighters completely and dispose of them with household garbage
Use the contents of spray cans completely, pierce a hole in the cans, and dispose of them with recyclable cans
If your regular medical facility does not collect these items, please be sure to place them in a container large enough so that they do not stick out, such as a plastic PET bottle, and dispose of them along with household garbage.
