RIMS, Cooperative Research Service Section
"How to handle the recording and publication of lectures of RIMS Joint Research Activities."
§0. Basic Idea
For recording and publication of the talks, the principal researcher shall check whether the proper copyright is observed and that there are no inappropriate expressions before obtaining the approvals from the speakers. If conditions are met and the principal researcher wishes to do so, they may, under their responsibility, make the information available to the public.
§1. The principal investigator should pay close attention to the following points.
1. The copyright of the speaker (especially the Right of Reproduction and the Right of Public Transmission) 2. Copyrights of third parties' works included in the video (e.g., lecture materials, virtual backgrounds of Zoom).
3. Copyright of the editing process if editing the video.
§2. Specific measures
The principal investigator must obtain prior consent from the speaker for recording and publication and remind them of the copyrights of the works by third parties included in the videos of their presentations.
Please inform the participants of the recording and publication of the lecture and warn them of the same. (Their names and images may appear in the video.)
The principal investigator should carefully examine the content of the recorded video files and be sure to check for copyright compliance and inappropriate expressions.
(The copyright of each lecture belongs to the speaker. If edited, the editor also owns the copyright and is responsible for the part.)
The principal investigator will be responsible for all problems that may arise in the event of non-compliance. Note that RIMS will not take any responsibilities.
