覚王 山 日泰 寺 所 蔵折本写本 (日泰 寺 本) と 水牛寺所蔵 折 本写 本 (水 牛 寺本 )の 比較研 究 田  辺  和 子  名古屋 市 所 在の 覚 王 山 日泰寺に は,タ イ 国王 室か ら分骨さ れ た イ ン ド ピブラ ー ペ ッ ペ に よっ て発見 さ れた仏 舎利が納め ら れてい る。 仏舎利奉迎の 際 に タイ 国王 ラマ 五 世 か ら贈 ら れ た 仏足 跡 も 安さ れ て い る。 そ れ に加え て 日泰寺に はタイ国か ら贈ら れ た写 本が所 蔵さ れ て い る。 その写本力 タロ グは, 柏 原信 行氏に よっ て 『パーリ学 仏教 文 化学』 第 14号に報告さ れて い る。 本稿で は こ の カ タログ を も とに重要 写本, そ れの カ ヴァ ー入 れ影 印 と写 本 き さ,ナン バ ーを 加 えて報告 し た。 そ して その中か ら プラマ ーラ イ ・クロ ーン ス ア ッ ト と呼 ばれ る プラマ ーラ イの絵付折 本紙写 本 (日 泰 寺本)を 選 んで,タ

イ 国の 18世 紀前半 作 製の 水 牛 寺 Wat  Hua  Krabu )所 絵付 折本紙

牛 寺本 )と比較対 照 し,そ の 同異を述べ , タイの サ ム ッ トコ ーイ と呼 ばれ る葬

Manuscripts

kept

Kakuozan

Nittaiji

In

1897,

the

Buddha's

relics were discoveredby Wl C. Peppe at

PipravE

near the

border

of Indiaand

Nepal.

The

relics were presentedto

the Siamese royal

family

by

the

English

government.

The Siamese royal

family

divided

theserelics and

gave

many totheBuddhistsofMyanmar and

Sri

Lanka.Moreover,the Siamese royal

family

offered to

present

a

portion

of the relics to JapaneseBuddhistsas well. So JapaneseBuddhistssent a

delegation

headed

by

Koen

Otani

of the HigashiHongabji to

bring

back

the relics inMay of 1900.The

delegation

received the relics at

Wat

phra

Chetuphon

(Wat

Pho)

in

Bangkok

from

the

King

Chulalonkorn

of Siam(i).

At

the same timea

Gold

Bronze

image

of

Syakyamuni

Buddha and a copy

of Buddha's fbotprintsmade of bronzewere presented(2),supposedly with thePalimanuscripts intheKhmer

(Khom)

scripts.

The relics havebeen enshrined at Kakuozan Nittaiji

(formerly

known

as

Nisseriji)

inNagoya since l904.The Image of Syakyamuni Buddha and

theBuddha's

foot

printsare

kept

in

Nittaiji.The manuscripts

have

been

kept

in

theLibraryof

Otani

University,

Kyoto.

Afterthattime, whenever the

Queen

of Siam,or the Ybunger

brother

of the King of Siam,or the Crown Princeof

Siam

visited and worshipped

at

Nittaiji,

they

presented

many Thai Buddhist Manuscripts.And The

Chairrnanof the

board

of

directors

of the Japan and

Sayam

Society

also

presentedmany Thai Buddhist Manuscripts to Nittaiji,Nagoya.
