Abstract Amidst the on-going shift from “education” to “learning”, university and academic institutions need to discern anew their societal roles. For this purpose, we can refer to practical trends in EdTech and at the same time redefine a robust theoretical basis of social learning from the viewpoint of informational philosophy such as Neo Cybernetics.

Abstract The korogaru park series are the new type of park that there are the media and a physical equally.This text introduces a characteristic and result of the Kologal series carried out from 2012 through 2014. I introduce that children obtain a concept of a state and the self-government developing the play in a park buried the media in. Activity for the extension of the session of the park finally stood up. It is one result of them that was dripped by the park. Finally I show an education policy of IAMAS which caused the idea of the korogaru park.

Self-investigations in universities
(
)
IWASAKI Hideo (Waseda University)
Abstract In addition to authentic academic activities in universities, I suggest the importance of alternative approaches to pursue interdisciplinary investigations, such as that on “what life is” via biomedia art, bioaesthetics, DIY BIO etc. Such investigations remind us of mutual relationship among art, science, and academic disciplines in the pursue and expression of the world around us.

Something Form-less

IKEGAMI Takashi (The University of Tokyo)
Abstract A university is where we explore something form-less, where we find pre-verbalized concepts and knowledge, something that should bring us a fear of unknown things. Beginning with a public talk with Horiemon in 2013, I will discuss the meaning of studying at university and the meaning of knowledge through my experiences in media arts.

Post Professional and future educational system
(
)
Seiichi Saito (Rhizomatiks)
Abstract I recently felt that Japanese educational system encounter difficult situation because of lack of Interdisciplinary structure and thought. Through this essay, I explore what is the problem with our current Japanese educational system and why I felt difficulty based on my experience of US education at Columbia University as student and teaching assistant. Also as talking about unprevalence of post-professional educational situation, it reveals that how IAMAS works as the great case of post-professional education. Through these thoughts, I try to explore what will be a new perspective of future educational system in Japan.

Community Radio as Cultural Function for the Amami Islands
KANAYAMA Tomoko
Abstract The Japanese archipelago consists of 6,852 islands and about 421 are inhabited. I have studied on the relationship between the local community and community communication in small islands particularly focusing on local media since 2005.1 This article as a part of ongoing research reports the meanings of community radio station for the Amami islands, which consists of five islands. Since Amami FM was opened in Amami-ohshima in 2007, three new radio stations have signed off the air in the island. Other plans to open radio broadcasting also have been preparing in Tokunoshima and Okinoerabu. Through the in-depth interviews, it has been understood that each community radio station might be a symbol of own cultural identity and play as cultural function. The aggregation of these symbols is important for the whole islands for maintaining their own culture preserved for the long period of time when being occupied and oppressed by the mainland of Japan.
