This thesis describes the use of light emitting diodes (LEDs) in the optical fiber wideband RF signal transmission systems having the frequency response of 30 MIIz to 350 MHz. The thesis deals with two types of optical fiber wideband RF signal transmission systems.
One is actualized by the wideband RF signal transmission systems attached to the frequency down-converters which convert the IF signals of the direct broadcasting satellite (DBS) receivers from I GHz to VFIF frequencies. Variations of the basic system are given for confirming and evaluating the capability of this types of system. The variations include the 70 MHz IF signal transmission, channel control attached to the IF signal transmission system, and multichannel transmission systems.
The other is actualized by the direct coupled wideband RF signal transmission systems to be used for multichannel FM audio and video signals, and for remote sensing and transmission of data.
The proposed systems are believed to be useful for the CATV and industry applications.
