Dr. Annick De Houwer is the Chair in the Language Acquisition and Language Teaching of the Linguistics Department, and also Director of the Language Center at the University of Erfurt in Germany. She is one of the leading scholars on bilingualism in the world and was a much respected plenary speaker at the most recognized conference on bilingual studies - the eighth International Symposium of Bilingualism in Oslo, Norway in 2011.
