On March 17th, people celebrate
St. Patrick, the patron saint of )reland. (e
is famous for teaching )rish people about
Christianity using the clover plant, and for
driving all of the snakes out of )reland.
(owever, the modern St. Paddy’s is as
much about )rish culture as it is religion.
You don’t need to be )rish to
cele-brate
St.
Paddy’s,
either! Americans
of all ancestries like to eat soda bread and
corned beef, have parties, and drink lots
of beer. Kiss me, )’m )rish shirts and
Kiss me, )’m pretending to be )rish
shirts are popular. The city of Chicago
dyes their entire river green to celebrate.
