IOOTS Allows

you to

view

and

modify

the loaded tool library. On selecting Tools a

window will

be displayed showing

two

smaller

windows.

The

tool

hbrary is shown

in

the larger

window

on the left and contains 24 standard tools. The tool turret, the smaller

window

on the

right

can contain any of 12 tools from the

library in

any order, depending on program requircments.

To move a tool from the library into the turret, use the cursor to move the

rx until it

rests on top of the desired tool. Press Enter to transfer the tool to

ie library

and then move

it

to the desired turret location. Press Enter again.

When you use different tools

in

a program,

it

is the tool turr€nt that dis-inguishes between tools.

It

may be simpler to use the default tool

tufl€t,

since the tools

in it

are preorganized.

OfFSET Ope^s the

input

box so you can

input

or edit the offset registers

for tre

tools. The register values are used for the tool length and toolnose radius compensation

in

the CNC program. The same registers may be

utilized by

botr the G41lG42 cufter radius compensation and the Gtl!)/G44 cutter length offset. The registers are preset to common values,

but

they may be altered.

Refer to Chapters 5 and 5 for detailed explanations of

how

the offsets

work.

Move the cursor to the desired regrster, thenpress Enter.

Adisplay prompt

appears as$4g for the offset value for that register. Type

in

the new value and then press the Enter key. Remembeq, the offset values are in whatever rmits the system defaults to.

To exit the offset register, move the cursor to one side and press Enter.

UNITS

Prompts for inch or metric (mm) programming

with "INCH

PROGRAMMING?

Y/N".

This

unit

default is for the system environment:

the workpiece, offsets, and system default. The programming units may be switched

within

the program via the appropriate G-code.

CHUCK

(lirming only)

14/hen selecting this option you are prompted

to mter

the length.

DRIVE Enables you to

specifi

to

which

disk

drive

the CNC files are to be saved. To save to a floppy disk, type either A or B (depending on your systems configuration). To save to the hard disk, type the appropriate

drive

letter,

for

example, C. For network drives, type the letter of the

network

drive,

for

example,

H.

CH-DIREC Changes the current user directory

without

your having to leave the user interface, for example,

C:\CNCM\DEMOMILL

to A:\PROGRAIvIS.

FITETYPE Allows you to input different types of CNC files simply by

danging

Ere DOS file extension. The default extension for CNCEZ

milling

files is .MIL and for CNCEZ

tuming

files, .TRN. Other CNC files may require a .NC

or

.CNC extension.

58

INTERAcTTVE sIMULATToN soFrwARE

IIBRARY Enables you to specify whether you want to use the inch

tool library

or the metric tool library. The libraries consist of 24 standard tools.

The inch

library

is the default.
