Inordertostudythedependenceoftheresistivityonheattreatments,werepeated theriieasurementafterannealingCeRuSn3underdifferentconditions:1000。Cforthree days;950。Cfortllreedays;600。Cfortwoweeks.ThereISnodetectablecllangeof theresistivity.Int1】ecaseofLaRuSn3,tlleeffectofanneali且1gontlletemperature dependenceoftheresistivityislargerthanthatonCeRuSn3.Theresistivityofanas‑
grownsampleincreaseswithdecreasingtemperature,reachesabroadmaxirilumanti thendecreasesatlowertemperatures.Forasampleannealedat95U°Cforthreedays, theresistivityshowsnormalmetallicbehaviour.LalZuSn3showsatransitiontoasuper‑
conductingstateat7㌔ 空1.5K.
Figure2showsthetemperaturedependenceoftheinversemagneticsusceptibility ズlofCeRuSn3between1.7and300K.TliesusceptibilityfollowstheCurie‐Weisslaw abovelOUK.TheparamagneticCurietemperatureandtheeffectiveBohrmagneton μe∬areabout‑38Kand2.5μBmo1‑1respectively.オelfisclosetotllevalueforCe3+

Figure4showsthetemperaturedependenceofthethermoelectricpower.Compared totheotherproperties,thedependenceofthermoelectricpoweronthesampleislarger.
Thetemperaturedependenciesmeasuredondifferentsamples,however,havecommon characteristics.Infigure4,twoexamplesofthetemperaturedependenceofCeRuSn3
areshown.Weobserveanegativesharpminimumaround6K,andapositivebroad maximumaround80K.Thesignofthermoelectricpowerispositiveat300K,though thepositivevalueisso1τ1ewhatsmallercomparedtogeneralCeKondocompounds.
Maekawaandco‑workersanalysedthethermoelectricpoweroftheCeKondosystem theoretically[10].Theyobtainedpositivethermoelectricpowerinallthetemperature range,unlesstlleytakeliltOacco田1ttllepotelltialscatteringanti/orcoherenceeffectof electronscatteringbyCeions.SinceillCeRuSn3tllecoherenceeffectisIlotclearlyseen
inresistivityorHalleffectinthistemperaturerange,theeffectofpotentialscatteringis thepossibleoriginofthenegativepeaknear6K.ForLaRuSn3,tllermoelectricpower at3UOKispositiveanddecreasesmonotonicallywithloweringtemperaturewithout changeofsigndownto7そ.
Figuresshowsthetemperaturedependenceofthespecifcheatcoefficientdivided bytemperature,C/T,ofCeRuSll3betweenO.6and20K.TheC/7「hasaminimum around7Kthenincreasesatlowertemperatureswithoutanysignofphasetransition downtoO.6K.AtO.6K,itreaches1.40Jmol‑1K‑2,whichiscomparablewiththoseof CeCu6,CeA13andCell1Cu2.TheC/τversusTcurvebearsacloseresemblancetothat ofCelnCu2,althoughC/Tstartsincreasingatasomewhathighertemperatureandshows
saturationbelow1KiilCeli1Cu2.
Tosummarise,thepresentexperime11talresultssuggestthatCeRuSn3isanewheavy‑
fermioncompound.ItshowsnomagneticorderingdowntoU.6K.Therestillremain severalquestionstobeansweredinordertoclarifythelow‑temperaturebehaviour.
Tothisend,measurementsonsampleswithcontrolledstoichiometryandatlower
temperaturearenowinprogress.
