It’s become October. In Sydney it’s summer, but in Japan October is the end of autumn. The morning and evening temperatures are both going down. It’s cold all day. People wearing coats on trains and busses increase every day. In uni, I lived in Hokkaido. I liked driving in countryside roads more than the city, so on weekends I would drive to various places. Autumn in Hokkaido is short, but the sky is blue, the air is clean, and it feels nice. Also, in the forests, leaves that becamse red and yellow are falling, and it becomes pretty. One afternoon, I was holding hands with my boyfriend and walking in the forest. Below our feet, the fallen leaves
were making a quite sound. After we walked for 2 or 3 hours, it began to rain a little, so we panicked and went to a small nearby café. It’s name was coffee, but it was written in kanji so it was hard to read. The inside was nice as I expected, and the coffee was also delicious. The owner of the shop was a nice person. Before they worked in the city, but they got sick, quit their company, and started a lifestyle near to nature. We had a long conversation with the owner, so we went home late. When we got to our apartment, the rain had become snow.
Five years have passed since that trip. At that time, both me and my boyfriend were looking for Japanese jobs. However, things happened, and now we live in the outskirts of Syndey also enjoying a lifestyle close to nature.
