6 credits in total can be replaced with a combination of the following options, with the permission of the student's supervisor. When a subject instructor approves a student's credits by allowing the exam without re-attending the classes, the student can register for the subject using the form. The student must obtain the approval of the subject instructor using the form "Request to take a make-up exam".

2) "Request for medical examination" must be submitted to the Education Department within one week of the last date of the ordinary examination. If, due to illness or other special reasons, a student cannot attend classes for two or more months in a row, the student can submit the "Request for Leave of Absence" form. After approval by the chairman, the student can take a leave of absence (no more than two years in total).

To return to school after the approved period, the student must submit the form. Application for withdrawal from the university” to the Department of Educational Affairs after approval by the supervisor, a member of the academic affairs committee and their head of department. Please note that tuition must be paid in full even if the student withdraws midway through a semester.

Courses listed in the “Intensive” section of the schedule are courses that are taught intensively at irregular times.

The GPA is an average calculated by converting the above letter grades into grades (GPs) ranging from 0.0 to 4.0, multiplying these points by the number of credits for each course, and then dividing the total grade points by the total amount of credits registered. 1) Courses for which credit points were obtained on the basis of the credit exchange system with other universities, graduate schools, etc.; courses that were registered at other universities or colleges during enrollment at TUT; and courses that have been registered at universities, colleges or graduate schools in foreign countries. 2) Courses for which credit points were obtained before entering TUT and were recognized after entering TUT; courses that were registered at TUT, other universities or colleges before entering TUT; and courses registered at universities, colleges or graduate schools in foreign countries (including courses registered for auditor students with recognized credits).

3) Courses for which credit points were earned through enrollment between courses, inter-school transitions, readmission, or study abroad and were subsequently recognized. 4) Courses for which credit points cannot be counted towards graduation requirements; and courses for which credit points were obtained through the pre-registration system for graduate programs. 5) Courses specifically determined by each department (on-the-job training (apprenticeship), supervised research, seminars, experimental courses and practical training courses).

Every student can check grades and GPA for recognized credits in the "KYOMU JOHO SYSTEM". Students who are concerned about their grades for a particular semester should check with the instructor.

Students can check the YOBIBI schedules two weeks before the dates, on the bulletin board at lecture hall, A-Bldg. YOBIBI will be used as a priority for rescheduling classes/exams canceled by storm warnings and the like. TUT strongly recommends all students to set up the email forwarding service to receive important information about class scheduling, grading and other communications from the university.

Class registration method

In principle, regular exams are held in a certain period at the end of each semester. All students should check the exam schedule in the academic calendar in ”KYOMU JOHO SYSTEM” or on the notice boards. Please note that exams may be given whenever the course instructor deems it necessary.

The student must obtain permission from the subject teacher via the “Request catch-up exam” form. 2) “Request catch-up exam” must be submitted to the Academic Affairs department within one week after the final date of the regular exam. With the aim of making course grades internationally compatible, TUT has launched a Grade Point Average (GPA) system, which provides a barometer to assess students' overall performance, starting with students who entered TUT in the 2018 academic year .

The objectives of the GPA system are to fairly assess performance and increase students' eagerness to study by calculating grade point average as a barometer to indicate the state and results of students' academic performance.

The types of instruction are lectures, exercises, experiments, practical or hands-on exercises, and are carried out individually or in combination, and the standard is that 45 hours of study are required to obtain one credit point. For lectures, 15 hours of instruction and 30 hours of preparation and revision for one credit point. For exercises, 30 hours of instruction and 15 hours of preparation and revision for one credit point.

A school period is determined according to the calendar of the academic year and consists of two terms; Spring period (from April 1 to September 30) and autumn period (from October 1 to March 31). Students who have obtained credit for this course during the master's program must take another course within the doctoral program.
