Verb has two voices, active and passive. We will be focusing on the Passive
Voice in this lesson.
（主語と動詞の表す動作との主客関係「する」「される」を表す動詞 の形態を態といい、能動態と受動態の 2 種類があります。このレッスンでは、受動態に焦 点をあてて学習します）Use of Passive Voice:（受動態の用法）
It is used when the thing or person affected by an action is important.（ある動作に影響 を受ける物・人が重要である場合に能動態を用います）
1. Passive voice uses the past participle of the verb. （受動態では、動詞の過去分詞形を使用します） Example: give – given（与える－与えられる）
2. It is most commonly used in business where the action itself is more important than the doer of the action.（動作主（人・事物）よりも動作自体が重要になるビジ ネスの場面において、受動態は非常によく用いられます）
Example: Asimo is a robot developed by a Japanese company. （アシモは日本の会社によって開発されたロボットです。） 3. It is used to emphasize the receiver of the action.（被動作主（能動態の目的語）
を強調する場合に受動態を用います)
Example: Microsoft Company was built by Bill Gates.
（マイクロソフト社はビル・ゲイツにより設立されました。） 4. Only verb that has an object can be formed in passive voice.（受動態を作ること
ができるのは、目的語を持つ動詞のみです）
Making the Passive Voice:（受動態の作り方）
Tense:（時制） Simple Present（単純現在）
Subject（主語） Verb（動詞） Object（目的語） Active:（能動態） Rita writes a letter.
（リタは） （書きます） （手紙を） Passive:（受動態） A letter is written by Rita.
