THE 2004 INVITATION PROGRAM
Since 2004, IIST has started The Invitation Program whose purpose is to invite foreign experts and create opportunities to exchange opinions with government officials and business people, as well as to hold seminars and in the related topics.
This year, through The 2004 Invitation Program, IIST has invited 13 individuals – politicians, government officials, scholars, and business people, from 10 countries, namely, Switzerland, India, Italy, France, Korea, Thailand, Viet Num, Tunisia, Belgium, and Indonesia. The experts have participated in symposia and seminars, and exchanged opinions with METI officials and business leaders in the topic of one’s specialization.

Richard Eglin is Director of the Trade and Finance Division of the WTO Secretariat, responsible for the Committee on Trade-Related Investment Measures, the Working Group on the Relationship between Trade and Investment, the Committee on Balance-of-Payments Restrictions, and WTO cooperation with the IMF and World Bank. Previously, he directed the Development Division and the Trade and Environment Division in the WTO Secretariat, and was responsible for various elements of the Uruguay Round negotiations. He joined the GATT Secretariat in 1985, after spending nine years on the staff of the International Monetary Fund.
He has a doctorate in Economics from Cambridge University.

Seung Wha Chang began studying law at Seoul National University (LL.B) and earned master and doctorate degrees from Harvard Law School (LL.M&S.J.D.). He was a Judge of Seoul District Court and an attorney at Covington & Burling in Washington D.C. Professor Chang taught international trade and antitrust laws at Stanford, Georgetown, Duke and UCLA Law Schools as a Visiting Professor. He has served as a panelist and an arbitrator for six WTO dispute settlement proceedings, including US-FSC, Canada-Aircraft II, and EC-GIs, and was a founding Member of the Permanent Group of Experts under the WTO SCM Committee.
Professor Chang also regularly serves as an arbitrator for international commercial arbitrations.

Marco C.E.J. Bronckers has a leading reputation in international trade law and as an EU competition law practitioner. He has argued before EU and national courts and was one of the first private lawyers to represent governments in international government-to-government litigation before GATT and WTO panels and the WTO Appellate Body.
