致力將台灣的深度人文之美推廣到國際。這與以深度挖 掘在地故事與人文特色產業的「國際光點計畫」不謀而 合，正可以共同合作，為國際旅客找出一個個值得細細 品味的台灣光點！ 中區國際光點計畫以「樂美地」做為中台灣的代名 詞，取自法文諧音La Mère Terre，意即大地之母，以樂 活情懷，滋養了生生不息的愜意世界，傳達中台灣特有 的樂活品味與幸福氛圍，並從「遊╳學」概念出發，打 造出讓旅人樂不思蜀的優質生活意象與觀光體驗。 計畫推薦的中台灣「樂活光點」，希望透過店家的故 事，敘說經營者的夢想、理念、創意及用心，突顯獨有 的在地經驗與風格，以動人故事和五感體驗，引發旅人 「心的感動」，體驗在台灣的「新六感」之旅。 也因為「體驗」是旅遊的最高境界，中區國際光點計 畫強調的「樂活學堂」，讓旅人不僅是從眼、耳、鼻、 舌、身等五種感官，看到、聽到、聞到、嘗到和摸到， 更能透過與在地達人、店家的學習接觸，從邊玩邊學的 「遊╳學」體驗中，深刻地用第六感「心」，去感受中 台灣的樂活魅力，去體會出人生品味！ 交通部觀光局與財團法人看見台灣基金會共同推動的 「中區國際光點計畫」，將中部地區定位為人文薈萃的 中台灣，以「樂活．品味．中台灣」概念，串聯台中、 南投、雲林、彰化、嘉義五縣巿的在地文化、人文時 尚、茶產業、自然生態及美食藝饗等特色，將這些獨立 的「光點」，交織成魅力「光網」，讓中台灣深層次的 在地旅遊體驗，帶給國際旅客心靈感動。 看見台灣基金會的願景是「成為世界認識台灣的重 要窗口」，以「文化」、「觀光」、「創新」為主軸，Welcome to The Land of Joy and Beauty

The International Spotlight Central Region Program, co-sponsored by the Tourism Bureau, Ministry of Transportation and Communications and iSee Taiwan Foundation, aims to highlight the rich cultures of Central Taiwan through the concepts of “Live it. Taste it. Central Taiwan.” The five counties of Taichung, Nantou, Yunlin, Changhua, and Chiayi, each has its own unique “LOHAS spot” with distinctive local culture, fashion, tea, ecology, and culinary delicacies, where together will gradually be interweaved to form a fascinating “LOHAS Network”, touching the hearts of our international visitors.
The Tourism Bureau’s International Spotlight Program uncovers “LOHAS spots” worthy of savoring for travelers by digging deep for regional stories and cultural interests. This also coincides with iSee Taiwan Foundation’s vision as “becoming an essential portal for the world to see Taiwan,” which is committed to promoting the profound cultural beauty of Taiwan throughout the world with culture, tourism, and innovation.
In the International Spotlight Central Region Program, Central Taiwan is given the name “le mei di” in Mandarin (the land of joy and beauty), which was taken from and sounds similar to the French, La Mère Terre, Mother Earth. By nourishing an eternally pleasant world with the LOHAS ideal, the unique flavor and atmosphere of happiness and well-being that is Central Taiwan is spread far and wide. With this concept, Central Taiwan has been positioned by the Program as an area where visitors can gain an unforgettable travel experience not only by sightseeing around but also by attending local DIY courses.
Each recommended “LOHAS spot” draws attention to retailers with particularly inspiring stories to tell – stories of the owners’ dreams, ideals, innovations, and visions. From these moving stories, each spot’s one-of-a-kind local experience and style are successfully highlighted while travelers may experience with their five senses until they unlock the sixth sense on their journey – the heart.
Because travel is all about experience, the International Spotlight Central Region Program offers workshops where visitors can personally experience through their senses of sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch. Interactions with the local store owners can take visitors beyond their five senses, engaging the sixth sense, the heart, so that they can appreciate the LOHAS charm of Central Taiwan and savor life.

投」一名源自原住民的平埔族語「Ramtau」，是 台灣唯一不靠海的縣市，北鄰台中市，東接花 蓮縣，西境為彰化縣、雲林縣，南和嘉義縣、高雄縣 接壤，位處台灣的地理中央，宛如台灣的心臟。 南投有山又有水，東有玉山等中央山脈縱貫，境內 多山地、丘陵，氣候涼爽宜人。高山也做為屏障，攔 阻下南太平洋與東太平洋的季風水氣，讓此地少有強 風侵襲，同時留下充沛的雨水，成為濁水溪、陳有蘭 溪、貓羅溪、萬大溪、荖濃溪、南港溪、加走寮溪、 水里溪等多條河流的源頭，稱南投為滋養台灣萬物的 「大地之母」，實不為過。 南投也是台灣多元文化的縮影，清境一地有 1961 年隨國軍撤退來台的雲南少數民族，日月潭畔有邵 族，仁愛鄉為泰雅族、賽德克族及鄒族群居地，布農 族則多數住在信義鄉，還有經閩粵輾轉移民來台的漢 人先祖，集中在南投市及草屯、埔里、竹山等市鎮， 這些皆讓南投呈現出多樣化的面貌。 1999 年的 9 月 21 日，芮氏規模 7 級大地震重創南 投，屋舍及公共建設嚴重受損，但南投並沒有被震 毀，反而激發出強韌的生命力，為求地方社區的永續 生存和再出發，開始正視環境保育議題，開發創意觀 光事業，強調生態保育的大雁澀水社區、創意無限的 杉林溪妖怪村等，都吸引許多旅客專程前往。 不論是往山裡去，沈浸在清境農場的綠意，或是往走進南投

antou is the modern derivative of Ramtau, the original indigenous name for the mountainous interior of central Taiwan. Today, Nantou is the only landlocked county in Taiwan, bounded by Taichung City to the north, Hualien County to the east, Changhua & Yunlin Counties to the west, and Chiayi County & Kaohsiung City to the south. Its location at the geographic center of the island naturally makes this county the beautiful “heart” of Taiwan.Nantou abounds in rugged, natural beauty. Capped by Yushan and other high peaks in the Central Mountain Range along the east, the county’s higher elevation and upland terrain give Nantou a perennially cooler and inviting climate. The Central Mountains not only shield the area from seasonal monsoon winds blowing off the southern and eastern Pacific Ocean but also serve as
generous watersheds for the county’s many rivers, including the Zhuoshui, Chenyoulan, Maoluo, Wanda, Laonong, Nangang, Jiazouliao, and Shuili. With much of Taiwan dependent upon its land and waters, Nantou County justly deserves its reputation as “Great Mother” to the island’s profuse flora and fauna.
Nantou is also a microcosm of island's modern cultural diversity. The development of Qingjing was from an intact community of minority peoples from China's Yunnan Province retreating to Taiwan with KMT troops in 1961. The County is also home to various indigenous Malayo-Polynesian tribes that include the Thao along the banks of Sun Moon Lake, the Atayal, Seediq and Tsou in Ren’ai Township, and the Tsou and Bunun in Xinyi Township. The descendants of Han Chinese settlers from southern Fujian Province today predominate in places like Nantou City, Caotun, Puli, and Zhushan. Ethnic and cultural diversity is a key element in Nantou’s multifaceted allure.
An earthquake on September 21st, 1999 centered in Nantou County rocked the landscape with destructive force. Although buildings crumbled, the resolve of Nantou’s people remained unshaken and strong. In fact, the earthquake has brought out the best in Nantou’s citizens, many of who have since become passionate about issues such as sustainability and ecological conservation. They have helped put Nantou into the ecological spotlight and spurred the development of local creative industries that draw 10s of thousands of visitors each year to attractions like Dayan’s Sheshui Community and the inveterately creative “Monster Village” on Shanlin Stream.

光點店家篩選標準
凡具備文化、產業特色且有國際發展性，並有合法營利事業登記、商業登記執照、消防認證、 衛生條件符合標準的店家，可被專家推薦進入光點店家候選名單。 候選名單再經下述審核標準篩選，才能成為光點店家： ( 一 ) 符合光點計畫推廣條件：具時尚性、文化性、產業特色，或已是當地特色的代表店家； ( 二 ) 創意性：店家經營內容或空間規劃具創意性； ( 三 ) 執行力：店家可提供定期展演、美食品嚐或 DIY 體驗，並願意配合光點計畫優化營運方式； ( 四 ) 國際性：店家具國際發展與國際旅客接待之能（潛）力。Selection Criteria for Lohas Spots
Experts may recommend for Lohas Spots consideration any business outlet that meets the following criteria:
1) Exemplify distinctive cultural and / or local industry characteristics, 2) Deemed to have international development potential, and
3) Hold relevant valid business licenses, fire/safety certifications, and sanitation inspection certificates. Final selection of Lohas Spots from the list of candidates will be conducted according to the following criteria:
1) To embody at least one key Lohas Spots trait (trendy / fashionable, cultural, distinctive local industry, established reputation as a local heritage business);
2) To display creative flair in the way their business is run and/or in terms of their spatial / interior designs;
3) To show business initiative (e.g., by holding regular demonstrations / performances, offering promotional tastings, offering DIY experience activities, etc.). Furthermore, they should be willing to adjust certain aspects of their business to meet Spotlight Program requirements; and
4) To exhibit the potential for overseas sales / expansion and current (or intended) ability to welcome / look after visitors from overseas.
光点のショップ選抜基準
文化と産業の特色を兼ね備え、なおかつ国際的に発展性を持つ店であり、また合法的に営利事 業登記、商業登記免許、消防認証、衛生条件の基準に適合するショップであり、専門家によって 光点ショップの候補リストに推薦が可能な店。 候補リストは以下の審査基準によって選抜されてはじめて光点ショップとなれます： (1) 光点計画の推進条件に合うこと：ファッション性、文化性、産業の特色、またはすでに地元の 特色ある代表的な店である； (2) 創意性：店の経営内容や空間デザインに独創性があること； (3) 実行力：店は定期的に展覧、グルメ体験、または DIY 体験を提供でき、また光点計画の運営方 式に修正があった場合、協力できること； (4) 国際性：店には国際的に発展でき、外国からの旅客を接待する（潜在）能力があること。宣

Jin-Du Restaurant has welcome many celebrities including Hong Kong food critic Tsai Lam, and former ROC President Chen Shui-bian who feasted the leader of 5 African nations here.
Couched in the mountains, Puli enjoys a perennially warm & inviting climate and high-quality spring water. The area is therefore the home to an exceptional selection of foods. Jin-Du opened for business in 1994 with a commitment to take advantage of the Puli's fresh produce and food products. They have since developed a highly acclaimed menu of specialty dishes. Jin-Du unveiled their Shaoxing Menu at the 1996 Taipei Chinese Food Festival, which used locally made Puli shaoxing wine to flavor a full array of delicious dishes.
T h e r e s t a u r a n t p r o m o t e s traditional Taiwanese culture as well as delicious food. One wall of the Jin-Du is adorned with a mural depicting a rural wedding - a piece done to lift the spirits of local residents so deeply affected by the 921 Earthquake. Look closely and you’ll also find calligraphic pieces written by a variety of artists on the restaurant’s menu, plates and even windowsills.

Liao began producing charcoal bamboo mugs since 2003, and now has a yield of over 90%. One reason why Liao was invited to exhibit his charcoal bamboo creations at the World Expo 2005 in Aichi, Japan.

投の竹山、信義、鹿谷から切り出した孟宗竹を 摂氏 800 度の高温の窯に入れ 15 日間焼き上げ た後、10 日ほどかけて徐々に冷やします。窯から取り 出しダイヤモンド鋸で切って形を整え天然漆を塗り、 最後に余分な漆を手作業で削って形を整え磨き上げま す。一個の竹炭コップができあがるのに一ヵ月半もの 時間がかかります。 廖昭勝によると、高温で焼き上げた植物の孟宗竹は 電導性のある竹炭鉱物に変化し、体積も四分の一に縮 まります。ガラスと同じ硬度を持つ一方、気孔は保っ たままです。そのため、除湿、除臭、水質浄化といっ た効能をもち、遠赤外線の効果で人間の新陳代謝を促 します。 竹が窯で焼き上げられる過程で大事なのは温度調節 です。少しでも気を抜けば、すぐに割れてしまいます。 または、竹が丸ごと破裂してしまうこともあり。2003 年から作りはじめ、今では 9 割以上の成功率になりま した。そのため 2005 年には日本愛知万博へ招待され、 日本でも紹介されました。一

aking bamboo charcoal mugs is truly a labor of love. One-and-a-half months’ worth of work is invested in each mug, from the time a moso bamboo stalk is selected and harvested from Zhushan, Xinyi or Lugu, prepared, kiln-fired for 15 days at 800 degrees Celsius, and slowly cooled for another 10 days … to the time it is hand-etched with a diamond-tipped saw, applied with a coat of natural lacquer, and given a final rubdown and polish.Chao-sheng Liao explains how drying mosol bamboo at high heat turns the material into conductive, charcolised bamboo. While this material is 1/4th of the original bamboo in size and as hard as glass, the natural pores on its surface allow the charcolised bamboo to "breathe" so that mugs are able to absorb smells and moisture, and purify the liquids it holds. Infrared heat generated by the mugs further stimulates metabolic processes in the body.

hong-san Cai and his wife’s “inspired” decision to package their quality teas in 50 packages left them with worrisome unsold inventory, caused many sleepless nights, and nearly brought them to the brink of insolvency. A lucky break, however, made their mini tea packages perfect for inclusion in a boxed set of books created by the Fo Guang Shan Monastery. This opened the door to further business opportunities selling their tea at airport concessions, duty-free shops and souvenir stores.With his business finally on a more stable footing, Cai began to draw on a long-term interest in calligraphy to explore the aesthetic side of tea and tea drinking. He developed "Cha-Gua (Tea-Hanging) calligraphy," which features calligraphic fonts and verses appropriate to different teas and climatic settings. The effect is intended to profoundly elevate the tea enjoyment experience.

千坪強の敷地を持つ水里蛇窯陶芸文化園区。 1927 年に陶芸家の林江松がここで蛇窯を作りま した、台湾で最も歴史の古い窯です。山壁に沿って建 てられた日干しレンガ造りの窯は長さ約 100 メートル にもなります。遠くから眺めるとまるで蛇のようなの で「蛇窯」とも呼ばれています。蛇窯の内部面積は広 く、大型陶器を焼くのに適しています。また一度に大 量の日用陶器を焼き上げることができるため、燃料と 時間も節約できます。 陶器の里として知られる水里蛇窯は、陶芸文化園区 へと生まれ変わりました。古民家や数多くの陶器を保 存しており、ここの陶器がはめ込まれた長廊下は撮影 スポットとしても人気です。1999 年の 921 大地震で 窯は大きな被害をこうむりました。その後、蛇窯を再 建する際、特別に造られた直立式の焼き窯では「雙雙 對對、萬年富貴」とのおめでたい意味が込められた「千 禧雙口瓶（ミレニアム双口瓶）」が焼き上げられまし た。高さ 6.68 メートルにもなる世界最高の陶器の瓶 として世界ギネスブックに認定されています。占

prawling across more than 6,600 square meters,the Shuili Snake Kiln was constructed in 1927 by ceramics master Jiang-song Lin. Today, the kiln is the oldest ceramics kiln fueled by woods still in operation on the island. The Snake Kiln comprises 100 meters of brick kiln tunnels that literally snake up the adjacent hillside. Its likeness at a distance to a snake is the source of its name. The large size of the kiln makes it highly suited both for firing large ceramic pieces and lots of general ceramic items while saving both on fuel and time.
A former pottery kiln, the Shuili Snake Kiln is today part of the Snake Kiln Art & Culture Park. The ceramic pieces placed throughout the property and the pottery ware set into the park’s long wall now make popular backdrops for photographs. Damage to the kiln suffered during the 921 earthquake in 1999 was repaired and a new vertical wood-fueled furnace was added to the complex. This new facility fired the 6.68m tall “Millennium Double-mouthed Bottle”, which is not only a symbol of eternal happiness together but also holds the Guinness Book of World Record as the world’s tallest ceramic bottle.

從小跟著父母養蜂，農場主人賴昭賢瞭解蜜蜂，進 而敬佩蜜蜂，為了讓更多人認識攸關全球生態平衡的 蜜蜂，將傳統養蜂場轉型為觀光農場。園區內不定期 安排專人講解，膽子大的遊客穿好防護設施，可以嘗 試走過兩側都是蜂箱的走道，在導覽員解釋下，貼近 觀察蜂箱構造和蜜蜂行為。 跟種蔬菜或養牛羊的農場不一樣，蜜蜂身體雖小， 工蜂卻有著一根毒刺，因此除了參觀蜜蜂生態等圖像 標本展示，其他時間最好跟著導覽員走，以確保安 全。建議一到宏基農場，先跟老師學做蜂巢蛋糕，由 於採用純正蜂蜜和全蛋製作，口感更為綿密濕潤，過 程中則需注意材料必須均勻攪拌打散。 在等待烘焙的時間，可以至廣場挑戰趴在蜂箱上與 蜜蜂零距離接觸，有機會品嘗直接從蜂巢滴下的新鮮 蜂蜜，或試嚼一下據說可以美白牙齒的蜂臘。Y

Hung Gee's proprietor Zhao-xian Lai grew up raising bees with his parents. Having developed an abiding affection for these wonders of nature, he decided to transform his family beekeeping operation into a tourist farm to introduce the public the important role that bees play in keeping nature in critical balance. The farm provides an irregular schedule of tours for visitors. Feeling brave? Putting on a beekeeping suit to take a stroll down "bee alley," seeing what a working beehive looks like up close!
Unlike vegetable and livestock farmers, beekeepers handle herds of tiny producers fitted with poison-tipped stingers. Therefore, beyond the site’s static displays, visitors should always be accompanied by one of the farm’s guides for their own safety. We particularly recommend joining in our honey cake making classes. Fresh-harvested honey gives these cakes the distinctively smooth, deliciously satisfying texture. Make sure all the ingredients are mixed well for best results!
While waiting for your cake to bake, step out into our yard for more fun and learning. Try sprawling atop of one of beehive boxes to experience the nervous thrill of a close encounter of the “bee” kind. You can also taste honey harvested fresh from the hive or chew on a slice of beeswax - a traditional way people once used to whiten their teeth!

Rising concerns about food safety today have encouraged many to examine how their food is grown and inspired many to become home gardeners. Specially prepared home mushroom growing kits have become an Internet sensation. Rich Year, a major supplier of these kits, also offers its visitors fun mushroom DIY activities.

Visitors are welcome to participate in the mushroom kit DIY class. Since each mushroom kit is heat treated to sterilize the medium and prevent contamination from harmful bacteria, and then chilled for 9 hours before implanted with mushroom spores, participants have to take expertly mushroom kits prepared in advance home onsite. Sculptor-artist Pei-tse Chen has nearly a half-century of experience in jade carving. His beautifully done pieces are celebrated for their distinctive lyrical character. Each of his works reflects the inner qualities of the original material, which are used to inspire and enhance the finished piece. Chen starts with the composition and shape of the original material and “perfects” it by the addition of his stories and inspired meanings.
Ji-qing, the artist’s daughter and proprietor, relates that her father has produced a broad stream of creative output over his long and varied career. His year 2000 art-lacquer piece entitled “Heavenly Gates” was purchased by the UK’s Victoria & Albert Museum for their own collection.
Apart from doing creative pieces, the Chen family also manages a factory that produces decorative art for export. This background has helped Chen realize his lifetime ideal of “art as life, life as art”, giving all the opportunity to own and enjoy pieces of creative art.
Formosan Merit’s bead-stringing DIY experience class invites participants to use beads of semiprecious stones stocking in the factory warehouse, such as agate, petrified wood, blue sandstone, and leopard-skin agate to create bracelets and necklaces that are a step well above those found elsewhere. 本人在 1925 年將印度阿薩姆紅茶引進魚池栽種； 近百年後，拿到 MBA 的第二代，決定承襲製茶傳 統，栽種和烘焙紅茶，同時發揮所學，規劃揉茶、品茶 和彩繪茶罐的體驗課程，推廣紅茶文化。品味老欉紅茶
地處 700 ～ 1,000 公尺中海拔的魚池鄉，微酸性的 紅壤土長不出水果，卻能生產好紅茶，日夜溫差大、 霧氣濃、露水重等風土條件，讓這裡成為台灣紅茶 的故鄉。人稱「紅茶公主」的石茱樺，父親做了一 甲子的茶師，對紅茶有著深刻的情感，取台語「好 菓（好結果）」諧音，自創品牌「和菓森林」，「和」 一字也暗喻著傳承日本的製茶工法。 和菓森林的紅茶生產線，是從栽種茶樹、採摘茶 葉，到揉茶、烘焙，一路到包裝、行銷，曾連續兩 年榮獲魚池鄉紅茶選拔特等獎。石茱樺表示，台灣 對龍井、烏龍等綠茶已有一套鑑賞標準和品茶文化， 紅茶則正當推廣成長期，因此推出製茶和品茶體驗 課程，讓旅客嘗試親近紅茶。 製茶課程要考慮到採收季節，因此只在 4 至 12 月 開放預約，揉製的茶葉以茶莊當天摘採的茶種為主。 在等待機器烘乾茶葉的空檔，和菓森林將視人數安 排彩繪茶罐或品茶課程，後者店家會介紹 4 種茶的 歷史，藉由觀茶色、聞茶香、品茶味，來分辨不同 茶種的味道和特色。J
apanese horticulturalists introduced Indian Assam tea to the slopes of Yuchi in Nantou County in 1925. Nearly a century later, a second-generation tea farmer and MBA business graduate has transformed her family’s traditional tea plantation into a boutique tea producer and center for fine-tea DIY experience classes & tea culture promotion.Tea from Century-old Rootstock
While the mid-elevation (700~1,000 meters above sea level), slightly acidic soils of Yuchi aren’t particularly good for growing fruit, they are exceptional for producing fine black teas. Warm days and cool nights, plenty of moisture in the air, and early morning dew make Yuchi the “home” of Taiwan-grown black tea.
Zhu-hua Shi, the “Black Tea Princess”, whose father had dedicated his life and passion to local tea cultivation. Their brand “Hugo” is a homophonic reference to the Taiwanese word meaning “to bear good fruit” while the first Chinese character (wa in Japanese) pays homage to the fine, traditional Japanese tea-making techniques that this family uses to make all its teas.
The care with which Hugo makes its tea - from cultivation, selection, rolling, and curing to packaging and marketing - has earned the company its top-select ranking for two consecutive years. Shi notes that while Taiwan has established standards for producing and appreciating Longjing (Dragon Well) and Oolong tea varietals, black tea is only now coming into its own. This was the motivation for Hugo to develop and offer its tea production and tea appreciation experience courses.
The tea-making course is held during the harvest season between April and December and use tealeaves which are picked on that day. Participants learn how to roll freshly picked tealeaves and, while waiting for their tea to finish roasting, can join in tea-canister painting or tea-appreciation sessions. In the tea-appreciation session, participants get an in-depth introduction to the history of 4 black tea varietals and learn to grade and assess the color, aroma and flavor of different teas.
