Introduction
This
second reportprovides
a taxonomic summary of theinfraspecific
variation and a specimen citation of theAsian Straptopus
stroptopoidbs to supplement ourprevious
morphological and
phytogeographical
study(UTEcH & KAwANo, 1975). Specimens
from
easternU.S.S.R, (Lena-Kolyma, Okhotsh, Ajan, Ussuri
andZeya-Bureya
regions)have
notbeen
seen(KoMARov, l935; HuLTfiN, 1968), but presumably
existin Lentngrad
(LE),
asdo
certain respective type specimens(Figs. 1,2).
Specimens from
thefo11owing Japanese herbaria have been
examined:KYO (Departmcnt
ofBotany, Kyoto University), MAK (Makino Herbarium, Metropolitan University, Tokyo), TI (Department
ofBotany, University
ofTokyo), TNS (National
Science Museum, Tokyo), KAN (Department
ofBotany, Kanazawa University)
andTUS (Department
ofBiology, Tohoku University, Sendai). The
authors wish to thank theseinstitutions
and their curatorsfor
their valuable assistance andloan
ofspecimens.
Only
representative specimensfrom
theAsian
rangehave been
cited. Those from Honshu have been listed by prefectures (north
to seuth), while thosefrom

aregiven in
the olderprovincial
