andits future coditions arealso referred.Stillanumber of pr〇blemsassociated withits culture

remainsalmost untouched,、Whilethe areaofits cukivationis steadilyincreaslngatanaCCelerated rateinthesefewyears.hthe mostpartof the areaolivesareharvestedmainlyfor・theproduction Ofpliveoil,and9nly・alittlea$thepickling olives.These conditions,however,arenOtfavorable

to the economicalsituation of growers,nOtOnly because the price ofthepicklingoliveis higher

thanthatof the oilolive,but also because,aSM.OzAKIpointed outin the review above mentioned,the competitive condition w主thimportsisadvantageOuS tOthe production of pickling,

Inthis00untrIy,however,Onlyafewinterests are shownforthepidilingboth of green and ripe olives,and apprecid)1eresdtshavehardlybeenobtainedwithafew exceptions.(3)(4)As the COnditionsare such,itisprojectedin thislaboratory to study the olive fruit biochemical1y.

The growth of developing olive fruit was stulied by H.T.HARTMANN,($)1949,Who determinedthe diameter,VOlume,Oilcontent,and moisture cc.ntentofthe Missioil,此払nzanillo,

and Ascola?ZOVarieties attwo−WeekintervdsfromJllnetOJanuaryduringtheseasDn1947・1948,

butother oomponents such as sqgar,Crude protein,and ash were not studied.

He reported from his study,thatthegrowthof olive fruit appears to havethe same CyClic

behavior typicalofother fleshydrupaceolIS fruitswi1en the diameter,VOllIme,Or fresh・Weight

measurementsare used,andits growth periodis divide].intothree stag■es,i.e.,theinitialperiod

Of rapid growth(fromJunetothe beginningof August),the second period of r・educed rateof

growth(fromthebeginningofAugusttomid−September),andthelastperiodofrapidincreasein growthrate(frommid・Septembertothe closeof November).Fromhis report,itis clearthatit

In Fig.3,the results aregiven forthe determinationsof crude protein and ash.From the CurVeS Of crude protei王ICOntent 王1O Significant results were observed.In the vdues for ash

COntent remarkable differences were shownamOng the varIieties,but no considerable growing

tendencywas obtained.As clearlyshowninFig.3,theL,uCCa varietyhas amuch higherash

content than the othel・・twO Varieties.

The resdts for the determination of totalsugar・Were eXPreSSed as O.9 × glucose as

usual1yandgivenin Figs.4;6小 7and8。Allthethreevarieties exhibit寧d the high1y parallel decr・easingbehavior bothinthe per・CentageSand the actualamountsperone′fruitin opposition

tothose of oilcontent(inFigS.5,6,7,and8).The minimumlevels of sugar COntent Were shownaboutNovember・15to30,andthis wastheperiodof reachingthemaxim11mlevelsof oil COntent.B鴫in the actualamounts,the sugar was far・1ower than the oil.

1.実験に使用したミッシヨソ,マンザニロ,ラッカ三品種とも,HAR′rMANN(与)氏により報告やら

れていると同様な,−L般核呆に見られる典型的成熟経過を示した. 2.永分,粗月旨肪,全糖に於ては,明瞭な成熟傾向が認められたが,粗儲白及び灰分紅ほその様な 傾向を認めなかった・ 3い 脂肪含鼠は,1り]未寂霜に達しセが,ミッシヨソ:17・06%,マンザニロ:16・90%’,ラッカ: 20.15%で,本学野呂教授等龍 により報告されている他と略等しかった。 4..11月未に於て,生果整が異常に高い値を示したが,その前後の傾が略等しい点から,試料採坂 上の誤差ではないか≒尽われる・ 5.油分と糖分の代謝には,密搾な関聯がある事が明らかに示されたが,この点は猶研究する必要 があると思う。 本研究に当り,試料採取その他便宜を与えられた香川農業試験場小豆分場の尾崎・笠井両氏に感威 するい 猶本学川村教授からは種々有益な助言を与え.られつゝある,記して偉く感謝する・ ■野呂,井上,本学学術報告 4132…−135(1952)
