To foreign nationals who have entered Japan and are carrying out Moving-In procedures in Nagasaki:

National Health Insurance system

Enrollees in the National Health Insurance system all pay tax which then entitles them to financial aid in the event of illness or injury.

A National Health Insurance card will be delivered to your home address within a week to 10 days. Please contact the National Health Insurance Division if you do not receive your NHI card.

You shall be responsible for 30% of medical bills upon presentation of your NHI card at medical institutions.

A National Health Insurance Tax Payment Slip shall be posted to your address approximately 1 month after enrollment. Please be sure to pay this before the deadline.

National Pension system

If the enrollee becomes disabled through an accident and fulfills certain criteria they will be eligible to receive a disability pension.

A Pension Handbook will be delivered to your home address within the next 2 – 3 weeks. Be sure to store this carefully.

You will receive payment slips for pension premiums. However, please do not pay these if you have applied for an exemption. Do not throw the payment slips away. You will be notified by post of the results of your application for exemption by the Japan National Pension Service within 2 – 3 months.
