Mt. Goyo (1341. 3 m) which is situated on the Pacific side of north-east Honshu, is the second highest mountain in the Kitakami mountain range. The rocks which make up this mountain are composed chiefly of granite, and creeping pines cover the summit and its adjacent plateau-like area, with primeval forests growing halfway down the mountain.
