教 育 研 究 所 所 長

 国際基督教大学は,リベラルアーツ,国際性,地球市民の育成,知識の普及を使命と しています。教育研究所がこの使命を果たす上で,紀要は重要な手段となります。紀 要は研究者,教員,学生が共に考えを分かつ絶好の場となるからです。そのようなこ と か ら も, 教 育 研 究 所 紀 要『 教 育 研 究 』58号 を お 届 け で き る こ と を 嬉 し く 思 い ま す。

 『教育研究』はこれまでも様々な視点で書かれた論文を掲載してまいりました。今号でも教 育,心理学,哲学,メディアとコミュニケーション,言語教育に関連した様々な分野の研究者 や実践家の投稿を受けました。「教育研究」は現在,世界の200以上の図書館・研究機関に置か れております。小規模かもしれませんが,大学紀要であっても国際的に高く評価されうるので す。これはひとえに編集者やスタッフ,印刷会社,投稿者,読者の皆様が関心を持ってくださ り,支持してくださったおかげです。大学紀要は類まれなひとつの社会組織なのです。それは ピラミッド型の組織ではなく,人と人との横の結びつきで構成された組織です。発行に至るプ ロセスも民主的です。編集委員とスタッフが互いに意見を出し合い協働するのです。そしてつ ねに様々な人々の投稿を歓迎しています。教育機関というものはピラミッド型の組織だと言わ れますが,『教育研究』は大学のそれ以外の側面,すなわち大学における一つの民主的な営み を示しています。知的探究心を歓迎する大学紀要として,公明正大な基準のもと,学問の質を 示す優れたモデルとなり,学問に対する責務を果たしているのです。

ICU is a university committed to liberal arts, internationalism, the cultivation of global citizens and the dissemination of scholarship and knowledge. The Institute for Educational Research and Service (IERS) plays a role in this mission; its journal is an important means to achieve this mission. A journal is a unique opportunity for concerned scholars, teachers and students to gather together and shared ideas.

The Institute for Educational Research and Service (IERS) is proud to host the latest issue of its journal Educational Studies.

Educational Studies is multi-perspective and, as usual, this volume welcomes the contributions of scholars and practitioners from a variety of allied fields in education, psychology, philosophy, media and communication and language education. Educational Studies is now distributed to over 200 universities and educational institutions around the world. Though small-scale and local, a university journal may become well regarded internationally. This is due to the collective interest and support of editors and staff, publishers, contributors and readers. A journal is a unique social organization. It consists mostly of networks of people rather than pyramids. The process is democratic. Editors, the Editorial Board and staff consult and collaborate. We encourage good potential contributors. Typically, educational institutions are organized as pyramids. However a university has the opportunity to show an alternative way forward. Educational Studies is a democratic activity. It is a university journal that welcomes the spirit of intellectual inquiry. It has open and fair standards and it can provide a good model of academic quality and commitment to scholarship.
