毎年恒例の盆踊りが、今年も上記の要項
で開催されます。
みなさま、お誘い合わせの上、是非参加
して下さい。
Please come and celebrate Bon Festival at the
Lakeside Shopping Center on Sunday, August 24,
2pm to 3 pm. Our tentative schedule is that the
event will start off by the dramatic Japanese taiko
drum performance by SGI drum group. Then our
Bon Odori (cont.)
dances such as Tokyo Ondo, Kawachi Otoko Bushi, Tanko Bushi, etc. and the Japanese children group
will have a special dance performance.
The Japan Club of New Orleans thanks everybody who contributes for this event.

Information on the Membership Amendment
to Japan Club of New Orleans' Constitution and By-laws

ARTICLE IV MEMBERSHIP
1. Membership shall be open to all Japanese citizens, Japanese-Americans, and their families, residing in New Orleans and its vicinity whose objectives are in accordance with the provisions of Article III of this Constitution. 2. Members shall be classified as Regular Members (individual or family members) and Honorary Members. 3. Honorary members shall be entitled to all the rights of membership except those of voting.
BYLAWS OF THE JAPAN CLUB OF NEW ORLEANS: ARTICLE II MEMBERSHIP
Persons wishing to join this organization in accordance with the terms of Article IV of the constitution shall furnish the required information on the application form, presenting the completed form to the Secretary. Applicants shall be registered as members upon approval of the Board of Directors.
In addition to members as provided in Article IV of the constitution persons who concur with the objectives expressed in Article III of the constitution may attend the various meeting and activities of this organization as guests upon the recommendation of any member.
2/19/2014: amend Article IV Membership, paragraph 1,”to include any person interested in Japan and willing to support the provisions of Article III of the Constitution.”
ARTICLE XI GOVERNING BODY
1. The governing body shall be a Board of Directors consisting of the officers as provided in Article VIII, the Co-Chairmen as provided in Article IX, and the Advisors as provided in Article X.
2. Two-thirds of the membership of the Board shall constitute a quorum.
3. Decisions of the Board shall be made by majority vote of members present and voting. ARTICLE VIII OFFICERS
The officers of this organization shall be the President, President Japanese-speaking community, Vice-President English-speaking community, the Secretary and the Treasurer. They shall be elected annually by the procedures provided in the Bylaws.

The Japanese Consul General in New Orleans shall be invited to serve as Chief Advisor and the Consul and Vice-Consul as Advisors. Advisors shall hold honorary membership during the term of such service.
ARTICLE XIV AMENDMENTS
1. This constitution may be amended by ratification by the Board of Directors of a proposed amendment, provided that such proposed amendment shall have been previously approved by majority vote of the Board of Directors, and provided further that, at least thirty days prior to the meeting of the Board for ratification, a copy of the proposed amendment shall have been mailed to each member for approval or rejection, and comment, by the members. A proposed amendment receiving an affirmative vote of both two-thirds of the members voting and one-half of the total regular membership shall be ratified by the Board. A proposed amendment receiving a lesser affirmative vote is defeated.

Dr. Theodore Touru Yenari
passed away
Dr Yenari passed away peacefully in his home in
Mandeville, LA, on May 17, 2014 at age 94 and in the 51st
year of marriage to Tong Ha Choi.
He was a long time member of Japan Club of New
Orleans and will always be remembered by our members and
his friends and family. Theodore Touru Yenari will be deeply
missed by all who knew and loved him.
Services was held Saturday, May 24th, 2014 from
1pm-3pm at the Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans

Thank you everyone for any help you provided to create the newsletter. There are articles I could not include in this issue due to the limited space.
