大学生の英語の授業内におけるノート使用の有効性

林 響子 了德寺大学・教養部 要旨  大学の英語の授業で和訳や板書をノートに書く学生と,ノートを使用せずに教科書に直接書き込みをす る学生との間で,期末試験の点数に差が出るかどうか調査を行った.教科書に直接書き込みをする学生は, 試験勉強の際に書き込みのために自分が和訳や板書の内容を理解しているかどうかを確認できないため, ノートを使用している学生よりも試験の点数が低いだろうと予測したが,どちらのグループも平均点はほ ぼ同じであった.これは学生がノートを使わない自分なりの学習スタイルで勉強する方法を確立している こと,また,ノートを使用することで教員の話を聞き漏らしたり,かえって情報を整理しにくくなること で,ノートを使用しないほうが効率的に学習できることが要因ではないかと考えられる.  キーワード:英語学習,教科書,ノート

Effectiveness between taking notes with a notebook and without it in a college English class

The study was to compare how effective the two different learning styles in a college English class. Some students used a traditional method of taking notes on the notebook. On the other hand, some students employed a non-traditional way of learning by taking notes in the margins of their textbook.

 The test results of the students who relied on taking notes in the textbook were predicted to be lower in the test scores than the results of those who took the notes in the notebook. This was because the non-traditional way of learning was considered to be less organized than the traditional method. However, the average test score of both groups of students was almost the same. The non-traditional students might develop their own way of learning styles. Using the notebook in the class could make it difficult for them to be effective and proficient in their learning experience.
