Aspidistra

comprises approximately 30 species of perennialherbs. The species usually

grow

on theforestfioorattheedges of

limestone forests. Most

species occur

in

eastern Asia

(Sino-Himalaya

and

Sino-Japanese

regions) and are especially abundant

in

south-central

China (Wang

and Tang, 1978;Lang, 1981), A new species ofAspidistTu

from

the

limestone

area of southwestern

Guizhou is described below.
