Traditionally,theliteraturehasidentifiedthreefilnctionsofvocatives: 1)sunnnoningattention,2)addresseeidemification,and3)themaintainingand reinfbrcingofsocialrelationship、e.g.Quirke/α/.1985,Biberαα/.1999,Leech l999).Buildingonthisbroadcategorization,thepresentpaperaimstoprovide amoredetaileddescriptionandclassificationofthepragmaticfimctionsof vocativeS,withaparticularfbcuson@6stand-alone''vocatives. 1.2.Contribution Bibererq/.(1999)exammethesyntacticpositionofvocatives,andtheynnd that"hnalpositionwasmostpreferred(70%ofthedataanalysed),e.g.Le/jgo, MQ",fbllowedbyntial(10%),e、9.M"M/e/bgo,stand-alone(10%),e.9.D"/, andthemedial(10%),e.9.1'"7sol"PaMcα"7脚αke""(Mumhy&Fa汀2012).
