●People who can apply:

Tsukuba residents and those who don’t have an opportunity to take medical checkups at their work places can apply. Each person is eligible to take each checkup once a year. (Some checkups have requirements.)

These medical checkups are for people who don’t have any symptoms they have noticed. If you have any health problems, please go to an appropriate medical institution.

●Two types of checkup: Group medical checkups and checkups at a medical institution.

How to apply, how to have a consultation, and checkup fees are different depending on the medical insurance you have joined.

You are required to agree to the privacy policy below to take the medical checkups of Tsukuba City: ●You agree to take the particular checkups that you apply for.

●You agree that your personal information is collected and managed for notification of results, and that your information may be given to medical institutions if you need to have a detailed examination.

What are the Cancer Checkups?

The aim of cancer checkups is to find specific cancers such as stomach and colon cancer. If you have any symptoms, please go to an appropriate medical institution.

What is the Specific Checkup?

The specific checkup was started in April, 2008 and is mainly for metabolic syndrome.

This checkup takes place once a year for those who are members of medical insurance (Kyokai-Kenpo / Kumiai Insurance / Kyosai-Kumiai Insurance / National Health Insurance / the Latter-stage Elderly Insurance)

A ticket for a specific checkup is issued by medical insurance and then you are able to take the checkup at a specified medical institution. Health guidance is given to people who need it according to the result of the checkup.

It is important to take both the Cancer Checkups and Specific Checkup.

<Group Medical Checkup

notes for consultation * Please read the following.>

・ When people in a wheelchair or people needing care have checkups, there might be some tests which cannot

be taken due to their body condition. Please ask the health center in advance.

・ People who have been asked to take a thorough examination in previous checkups, or who are currently having

treatment at a medical institution, are recommended to take the medical institution checkups.

・ Pregnant women cannot take any lung cancer, stomach cancer, or specific checkup. ・ Please circle the medical checkup items of choice on the registration card beforehand. ・ Please do not take the check-up if your physical condition is not good on that day. <What to do if you want to change the examination date>

When the designated date for the medical checkup is not convenient for you, please request for a change at the given health center. Since there is a limit of the number of people for each checkup, you may not get the date of your choice when you change. If you come to the health center without changing the appointment correctly, you will not be able to take the medical checkup because other people will have appointments on that day. You will be required to reschedule your appointment again in the correct manner.

Your cooperation is appreciated. (Except the Spring Health Checkup (11:00-11:15 a.m.). Refer to Page 5)

Our Ibaraki Prefecture goal for your dental health is “Let’s try to have more than 20 teeth at 80 years old, and more than 24 teeth at 64. (80-20 and 64-24). Both self-care and care at a dental clinic are important. We lose our teeth mostly because of cavities and periodontitis. 80% of adults over 40 years old get these diseases. Please think of your teeth and oral health. Let’s chew, taste, drink, and talk merrily with our healthy teeth and mouth.

Please take the checkup for cavities and periodontitis. <Eligibility> 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 years olds.

<Checkup period> from June 1, 2017 to February 28, 2018

<Charge> 500 Yen (Free for 70 years old and older)

<Checkup content> Interview, oral checkups for cavities and periodontitis. A toothbrush is given as a present! <Note> Checkup for tartar, scaling of tartar, or medical treatment are not included.

<How to apply> The notification will be sent in late May.

Please make an appointment at the cooperating institutions. (Refer to P. 26).

About 50% of the participants said to dentists, “Foods get stuck between our teeth.”, while about 20% said, “We notice bleeding while brushing our teeth.”

What is periodontitis?

This disease is an inflammation caused by bacteria. A lot of bacteria collect between teeth and gums if you don’t brush well, then there might be an inflammation around the gums and the gums may turn red or become swollen.

Please take the checkup periodically at your regular dental clinic.

To maintain healthy teeth and oral health, you should have a regular dentist. The data shows a regular dentist helps you enjoy your long-life. About 50% of Tsukuba residents who took the dental checkup in 2015 have a

The key to prevent nursing care

is “Do

It

Yourself”

Care prevention is an activity to prevent elderly people from needing nursing care and to maintain

health of those who are taking nursing care. It is important to start this activity while one doesn't need

nursing care, just the same as lifestyle disease prevention.

Care prevention aims to support

Do it Yourself

throughout your life.
