A English Summary of Rules of “Terraformers”

SEQUENCE OF PLAY

The game is played for 6 rounds. Starting with the first player, each player must place one or more power tip(s) on one of the Power Boxes or Cosmic species cards. At end of the game, the player who has most VPs wins.

SETUP

Eight Planet cards are chosen randomly and placed in the middle of the table. Each player receives 1 player sheet and 1 pencil(something to write).

The first player is determined in randomly, and He/She receives the first player marker(pown). The round card is placed in the middle of table. The round marker(pown) is placed on the first space of the round card. This indicates the current round number(1 to 6).

HOW TO PLAY

Start of round

Each player receives power tips(s) equals to his/her City level.

If there is a card which has "At the start of the round..." effects, activate the effects.

Your turn

Starting with the player who has the first player marker and moving clockwise, players take turn. Players proceed until all the power tips have been placed, or passed.

In your turn, you choose one of the following actions and place one or more power tip(s) on it.

a) Place the power tip(s) on one of the Power Boxes in your player sheet. b) Place the power tip(s) on one of the Power Box cards.

c) Place the power tip(s) on one of the Cosmic species cards to take/keep it. d) Release your Cosmic species card.

e) Pass. Planet Card

*Basic rules for all actions:

- Power: The base of "Power" is Science level. For example, If you place three power tips to do action and your Science level is two, the power will be five(3+2=5). You have to place at least one power tip to do action except pass.

- You can't do actions(place power tips) which have power tip(s) on it already.

a) Place the power tip(s) on one of the Power Boxes in your player sheet.

Player sheets have seven Power Boxes that have power box icon in it. You choose one of the seven Power Boxes, and place one or more power tip(s) on it.

- City level / Green(Plant) level / Science level / Cosmo level

To increase the levels, you have to give a power that the checkbox of the level indicates. For example, To increase City level to 5 from 4, you have to give more than 2 power on it. If your Science leve is 1, you need to place 1 power tip on it( 2-1=1 ). If you want to increase City leve to 6 from 4 at once, you need to place more than 4 power tips on it( (2+3)-1=4 ).

- Oxygen / War / Carnival

Those power boxes effecs at the end of the round. Each value of those is also equals to the sum of Science level and the number of power tips on it. For example, When you place 3 power tips on War power box and Science level is 2, your War power is 5.

b) Place the power tips(s) on on of the Power Box cards.

Power Box cards is a type of Planet cards. These cards have a power box icon on it. To do the power box actions, you have to give power equal to the cost or more. For example, If you activate the "Exterior Planets Exploration"(Cost:5) and your Science level is 2, you have to place more than 3 power tips on the "Exterior Planets Exploration" to activate it.

After placing power tips, the effects will be applied immediately.

c) Place the power tip(s) on on of the Cosmic species cards to take/keep it.

Cosmic species cards is another type of Planet cards. You can take only one Cosmic species card and place it in front of you. To take a Cosmic species card, you have to give power equal to the cost or more. For example, If you take the "Librarian Tribe" and your Science leve is 3, you have to place more than 1 power tip on the "Librarian Tribe" to take it and place it in front of you.

The effecs of the Cosmic species card will be applied immidiately.

Each player can have only 1 Cosmic species card. If you already have a Cosmic species card and you take another, you have to release the Cosmic species card you already have. The released Cosmic species card will be placed in the middle of the table.

You can also take Cosmic species cards which other player have. Of cource, it's available only

when the cards don't have any power tips. This means, if you don't want to be robbed your Cosmic species card, you can place power tips( the power must be equal to be the cost or more ) on your own Cosmic species card to keep it. If you do so, nothing is happening, but you can keep your Cosmic species.

d) Release your Cosmic species card.

You can pay 1 power tip into the stock to release your Cosmic species card. The released Cosmic species card will be placed in the middle of the table.

e) Pass.

You don't need any power tips to pass. Once you passed, you can't play any actions in the round.

When all players passed, the round ends.

1) Oxygen supply

Each player checks your Oxygen power. If the sum of your Oxygen power and your Green level is equal to or higher than your City level, you suceed oxygen supply. If you failed, you lose 5 VPs. For example, If your City level is 7, your Green level is 3, and your Oxygen power is 4( the number of power tips in the Oxygen Power Box is 2, and your Science level is 2 ), you suceed oxygen supply( since 7-3 is equal to or greater than 4 ).

If you have no power tip on your Oxygen Power Box, your Oxygen power is zero despite the Science level.

2) War

The player who has most War power wins the war. If there are same War powers, the player closest to the first player wins. The No.1 player gets 5 VPs, and the No.2 player gets 3VPs. If you have no power tip on your War Power Box, you can't take part in the war.

The No.1 player gets the first player marker, and the player becomes the first player.

3) Carnival

Each player gets VPs equal to your Carnival power. Your Canival power is the sum of number of power tips in your Carnival Power Box and your Science level. For example, If the number of power tips in your Carnival Power Box is 1 and your Science level is 3, your carnival power is 4 and you get 4 VPs.

If you have no power tip on your Carnival Power Box, your Carnival power is zero despite the Science level.

4) Cleaning up all power tips

Clean up all power tips: on all Planet cards, on all player sheets, and all power tips each player has yet. The all power tips are placed in the stock.

The round marker is placed into the next round number space in the round card. When round 6 is ended, the game ends.

End of game

If there are Planet cards which have "At the end of the game..." effects, all these effects are applied.

The player who has highest VPs wins. In case of a tie, the player closest to the first player wins. Totals of VPs can be minus.

0001 / Zonbie Tribe [ ンビ族] / Cost:2 / Type:Cosmic Species

In War phase, If you aren't No.1, all power tips in your War Power Box move into your Carnival Power Box.

0002 / Lord of War [ ] / Cost:2 / Type: Cosmic Species

In War phase, your Cosmo level is added to your War power. This effects whether you placed power tips on War Power Box or not. For example, If you don't place any power tip on your War Power Box and have the "Load of War", your War Power is equal to your Cosmo level.

0003 / Four Dimensioned People [四次元人] / Cost:3 / Type: Cosmic Species

After starting a round, you get extra turn before first player's turn. Then the first player takes turn normally.

0004 / Mob Tribe [モブ族] / Cost:2 / Type: Cosmic Species

When you calculate any powers, you use folloing list to calculate the power instead of normal way(=power tips + Science level ).

1 power tip : power = 1 2 power tips : power = 2 3 power tips : power = 4 4 power tips : power = 7 5 power tips : power = 11

more than 6 power tips : power = 16

0005 / Giant Tribe [巨人族] / Cost:3 / Type: Cosmic Species Science level = 3.

You can use only 1 power tip in your turn.

0006 / Gardening Tribe [ デニン ] / Cost:3 / Type: Cosmic Species

After Oxygen supply phase, you get VPs equal to excess Oxygen power and Green level. For example, If your City level is 7, your Green level is 5, your Oxygen power is 4, you get 2 VPs ( since (5+4)-7=2 ).

0007 / Astrofarmers [宇宙農家] / Cost:3 / Type: Cosmic Species

When you get this card and when starting a round, your Green level is increased by 1.

0008 / Berserkers [ ] / Cost:3 / Type: Cosmic Species

In War phase, if you are No.1, your City level is increased by 1. If not, you lose 3 VPs. You can not take and relase any Cosmic species card.

0009 / Space Marchants [宇宙貿易商] / Cost:4 / Type: Cosmic Species

You use your Cosmo level instead of Science level. ( You don't use Science level. )

0010 / Librarian Tribe [ イブ ] / Cost:4 / Type: Cosmic Species

You may pay 1 power tip into the stock. If you do so, you choose a Cosmic species card in play and get the all effects of the card in this round. ( You still have the "Librarian Tribe"'s effects. )

0011 / Dragons [ ] / Cost:4 / Type : Cosmic Species Science level = 5.

In starting your turn, you pay 1 power tip into the stock. You can not take and relase any Cosmic species card.

0012 / Lode [鉱脈] / Cost:1 / Type : Power Box You get 3 VPs or 10 VPs if the power is 7 or more.

For example, If you place 3 power tips on this card and your Science level is 4, you get 10 VPs.

0013 / Charity [喜捨] / Cost:1 / Type : Power Box

If you have no power tip, you get 5 VPs. If not, you get nothing.

0014 / Cosmic Fair [品評会] / Cost:2 / Type : Power Box Each player gets VPs equal to their own Green level.

0015 / Provocation [挑発] / Cost:3 / Type : Power Box

Each other player pays 2 power tips into their War Power Box. If they have less than 2 power tip, they pay all of remaining power tips into their War Power Box.

0016 / Expo [万博] / Cost:4 / Type : Power Box

Each other player choose one power tip on their War or Carnival Power Box. You get all of the power tips and place it on to your Carnival Power Box.

0017 / The Protist's Village [原生生物の村] / Cost:4 / Type : Power Box You choose one of the level of City/Green/Cosmo, and increase it by 1. 0018 / The Migrating City [渡り鳥都市] / Cost:3 / Type : Power Box

You get power tips equal to the half of your Cosmo level( round up ) from the stock.

0019 / Emigrant ships [移民船] / Cost:3 / Type : Power Box

Your Oxygen Power Box, War Power Box and Carnival Power Box get 1 extra power tip from the stock.

0020 / Exterior Planets Exploration [外惑星探査] / Cost:5 / Type : Power Box You write 1 star mark in your score space.

You increase your Cosmo level by 1. ---

At the end of the game, each player get VPs equal to the product of their number of stars and Cosmo level. For example, If Player A has 2 stars in his score space and his Cosmo level is 4, He gets 8 VPs ( 2x4=12 ).

0021 / Dark Matter [ ] / Cost:5 / Type : Power Box You increase your Science level by 1.

You increase your Cosmo level by 1. ---

At the end of the game, each player lose VPs equal to three times their Cosmo level. For example, If Player A's Cosmo level is 4, He lose 12 VPs ( 4x3=12 ).

0022 / Seismic Gravity [重力震] / Cost:6 / Type : Power Box You write 1 star mark in your score space.

At the end of the game, the players who have least number of stars lose.
