NewTestament,Notwithoutsignificanceiscontinualreferencemadeto JohnandPauLInbothJohnandPaultheeschatologicalsalvationevent isunderstoodasalreadytakingplaceinthepresent、lPaulcanwrite tothechurchmembersinCorinthtosaythattheendoftheageshas comeuponthem(ICor・10:11).IfanyoneisinChrist,heis“anew

creation;theoldhaspassedaway;behold,thenewhascome(IlCor、

5:17).SoitisaccordingtoPauLTheeschatologicalnowtakesplace.

“Behold,nowistheacceptabletime;behold,nowisthedayofsalva‐

tion”(682).ForJohnthejudgmentoftheworldisnotacosmicevent thatisstilltohappenbutisthefactthatChristhascomeintotheworld andissuedthecalltofaith.“Andthisisthejudgment,thatthelight hascomeintotheworl。,andmenloveddarknessratherthanlight,

becausetheirdeedswereevil,,(John3:19).“Nowisthejudgmentof thisworld,nowshalltherulerofthisworldbecastout,’(12:31).

“Truly,trulylsaytoyou,thehouriscoming,andnowiswhenthe deadwillhearthevoiceoftheSonofGod,andthosewhohearwill live,,(5:25).Thosewhobelieveare“bornanew,,(3:3);theyno

longercomefromtheworldorbelongtoit,butinfaithhaveovercome
