Grammar Review （文法の復習） (5-10 min) Use of shall（Shall の使い方）:
“Shall” is used to indicate future action. This is only used with “I” and “we”. Shall is used more often in a formal language. (“Shall”を使うことで未来の動作・行動を述べる事 ができます。この“Shall”は“I”か“we”という主語とのみ一緒に使われます。Shall はフォー マルな表現で使われる事が多いです。)
Here are the basic uses of shall when asking questions: (質問文の場合の基本的な shall の使い方は以下の通りです)
1. For suggestion(提案)
Example 1: Shall we go now? （今行きましょうか？）
2. For preference（好み・優先）:
Example 2: Shall I give him a watch or a tie on his birthday?
（彼の誕生日に腕時計かネクタイをあげましょうか？） 3. For offering（申し出）:
Example 3: Shall I cook this or will you be the one to do it?
（私がこれを料理しましょうか、それともあなたがやりますか？）
4. For formality to express obligation (義務を表現するフォーマルな形):
Example 4: Shall we report him to the police? （彼を警察に届け出ましょうか？）
Shall we pay our debts tomorrow? （私達の借金を明日払いましょうか？）
In American English, shall is often replaced by should or would. Shall is commonly used in UK than in USA.（アメリカ英語において、should や would が shall の代わりに使われ る場合も多くあります。shall はアメリカ英語よりもイギリス英語で一般的に使われていま す。）
