Summary: Since the enforcement of the Services and Supports for Persons with

Disabilities Act, project administrators of the employment support for disabled persons

began to include general employment within the scope of their tasks. Now,

employment support for disabled persons is almost unsustainable without accounting

for the prospects for their general employment. Following is a particularly important

factor influencing the disabled person’s transition to general employment: whether

formal and informal support coordination and network systems utilizing local social

resources can be created; whether such coordination and systems can be created within

the processes of supporting disabled persons to increase their employment readiness. In

this type of situation, the “Employment Support for Disabled Persons Utilizing the

University Campus” was implemented in coordination with Minnanowa Wawawa

Hirose, a Social Welfare Judicial Person. This organization is a facility conducting the

Employment Transition Support Project and the Employment Continuation Support

Project (Type B), and this paper is a practical report on “Employment Support For

Disabled Persons Utilizing the University Campus.” As a result of this project, various

significant achievements were attained: (1) creation of the employment support

system; (2) educational effects on students; and (3) contributions to society. Moreover,

there was also an implication that this project can be a driving force for developing

other informal social resources and potentially be a model project that “utilizes readily

accessible informal supports and creates a network of such supports.”
