In order to assess the distribution of the eleven plant-available elements in the acidified and slightly acidified soils collected in southeastern China and central Japan, a sequential extraction procedure using H㶩O, 1M CH㶪COONH㶫 (pH7, pH4.5), 2.5% CH㶪COOH, 0.1M NH㶩OH+HCl, 6% H㶩O㶩, 0.2M (NH㶫)㶩C㶩O㶫+0.2M H㶩C㶩O㶫, 0.2M (NH㶫)㶩C㶩O㶫+0.2M H㶩C㶩O㶫+0.1M C㶭H㶯O㶭, and HNO㶪+HClO㶫+HF was performed. The percentages of the water-soluble and exchangeable Ca, Mg, K and Mn in acidified soils were lower than those in the slightly acidified soils. On the other hand, the acidified soils were more depleted in the relative amounts of Cu, Al, Fe, Zn and P bound to oxide and were enriched in those of the water-soluble and exchangeable Cu, Al, Fe and Zn and P bound to organic matter than another soils.
