WORLD
Children’s World is a unique child care centre that provides culturally enriched daycare, preschool, and toddler programs to the Japanese-Canadian and broader communities. It is dedicated to childcare excellence and its staff follow the concept of Emergent Curriculum. Located near Historic Powell Street in Downtown Vancouver, it is conveniently located East of Gastown and North of Gastown.
Children’s World is a division of the Vancouver Japanese Language School and Japanese Hall where Japanese-Canadian culture and education has been taught since 1906. As one of the oldest Japanese-Canadian organizations in Canada, it was recognized as a National Historic Site.
「こどものくに」は、日系カナダ人をはじめ、様々なバックグランドの子どもたちが集 まる、デイケア・保育園・幼稚園の機能を兼ね揃えたユニークなチャイルドケアセン ターです。子どもたちの興味から学びを考えるエマージェントカリキュラムを保育の 基本としています。バンクーバー・ダウンタウンの東、パウエル・ストリート近くに位 置しており、ガスタウン北東に隣接した便利な場所にあります。 運営団体のバンクーバー日本語学校並びに日系人会館は、1906年から日本語や 日本文化プログラムをコミュニティに提供してきました。カナダで最も古い日系カナ ダ人組織の一つとして、カナダの国定史跡に認定されています。

EMERGENT LEARNING

All of our staff are qualified, licensed Early Childhood Educators who have First Aid and Criminal Record Review. Some staff members also have the Post Basic Early Childhood Education (Infant / Toddler or Special Needs) and/or University Degrees or other related education. The educators are encouraged to attend various professional development events (educational conferences and workshops) to bring new and fresh experiences to the classroom. 「こどものくに」の保育士は、全てBC州/日本保育士有資格者で、ファーストエイド の資格、無犯罪証明書も保持しています。一部のスタッフは、児童教育や特別支 援教育の学位、または大学や関連する教育の学士号を取得しています。こどもの くにでは、スタッフに教育者の専門性やその養成などに関する様々なワークショッ プへの参加を促しており、常に新しい知識やスキルを習得しクラス運営に活かして います。

Children’s World is located in the recently renovated 1928 Japanese Hall that was originally built to provide space for cultural activities and teach children Japanese. It has been retrofitted with modern safety features like AED, disaster supplies, sprinklers, and a fire alarm system and is licensed and regularly inspected by Vancouver Coastal Health. It also features a playground complete with sandboxes and slide as well as a spacious 4300 sq ft (400 m2) indoor hall, which provides rare opportunity for your child to get their much needed exercise in Vancouver’s wet winter climate.
