Attribution of qualification places
NOCs will be attributed qualification places, as per the detailed selection criteria noted below, and will select from eligible athletes to fill these places. Athletes may not qualify their NOC more than 1 qualification place.
出場資格選考制度の詳細
QUALIFICATION SYSTEM IN DETAIL a) 大陸別オリンピック選考大会
合計男子５人、女子５人のオリンピック出場枠１∼５までが、５つの大陸別オリンピック 選考大会、各大会優勝者のNOCに与えられる。優勝選手もまた出場資格を得る。
（大陸別オリンピック選考大会は、2007年５月１５日から2008年５月１５日の間で開催さ れることとする。）
5 枠 a) Continental Olympic Qualifying Events
Olympic places 1 to 5 will be allocated to the NOC of the winner of each of the 5 continental Olympic Qualifying events, for total of 5 men and 5 woman. The athletes achieving these positions also gain eligibility for selection
The continental Olympic Qualifying events may take place any time between 15 May 2007 and 15 May 2008). 5 places b) 2008 トライアスロン世界選手権 オリンピック出場枠 6∼ 8 (女子3 人、男子 3人)は、2008 ITU トライアスロン世界選手 権大会上位３名の選手のNOCに与えられる。その選手たちも出場資格を得る。 上位３位に入賞した選手のいずれかが既に大陸別五輪選考大会で１枠を獲得しているか、 選手のNOCがすでに３枠を獲得している場合、2008世界選手権における次点の選手が出場 資格を得、その選手のNOCが出場枠を獲得する。これは、男子３人、女子３人の枠が配分 されるまで続けられる。但し、選手は男女ともQCカットオフタイムの１０％以内でなけれ ばならない。 3 枠 b) 2008 Triathlon World Championships
Olympic places 6 to 8 (3 woman and 3 men) will be allocated to the NOC of the top 3 finishers from the 2008 ITU Triathlon World Championships. The athletes achieving these positions also gain eligibility for selection.
If any of the top 3 finishers has already earned a place at the Continental Qualifier, or the NOC of the athlete has already earned 3 places then the next highest finishing athlete in the 2008 World Championships earns the eligibility and their NOC a qualification place. This will continue until 3 places for men and 3 for woman have been allocated, providing the athletes are within the 10% for men and 10% for women quality control cut-off time

c) ITU Olympic Qualification Ranking
Olympic places 9 to 47 will allocated to the NOCs in order of the highest ranked athletes on the ITU Olympic Qualification Rankings, at the date of the 2008 ITU Triathlon World Championships, who have not previously qualified their NOC a place. If this ranking is exhausted, the 2008 ITU World Cup Rankings will be used, and then ITU points list. All of the rankings used will be as of 15 June 2008. (See expanded ITU Olympic Qualification Rakings attached.) 39 places d) ホスト国 オリンピック枠 48 (女子1人、男子1人)は、ホスト国に与えられる。もし中国がITU大会で 出場資格を獲得しているか、出場資格を有する選手が中国に一人もいない場合、出場枠48 はITUオリンピック出場資格ランキングに戻される。ホスト国の出場資格枠獲得については 最小限資格条件が適用される。 1 枠 d) Host nation
Olympic place 48 (1 woman and 1 man) will be awarded to the host nation. If China achieves qualification through ITU competitions, or if China has not any athlete eligible, place 48 will return to the ITU Olympic Qualification Rankings. The minimum eligibility criteria also applies to the places allocated to the host nation.
1 place e) 三者委員会 (IOC-ANOC-ITU)招待枠 オリンピック枠 49∼50 (合計男子 2人、女子2 人)は、三者委員会招待枠に配分される。 NOCの本枠に対する要求提出期限は2008年5月15日とする。三者委員会は、2008年6月1 日までに招待枠仮配分の確認を書面によりNOCに通知する。残る枠については2008年6月 16日までにNOCに書面により確認を通知する。 三者委員会招待枠についても最小限資格条件が適用される。 2 枠 e) Tripartite Commission (IOC-ANOC-ITU) Invitation places
Olympic places 49 to 50 (for a total of 2 men and 2 women) will be allocated to Tripartite Commission Invitation places.
The deadline for NOCs to submit their requests for Tripartite Commission Invitation places is 15 May 2008. The Tripartite Commission will confirm, in writing, a preliminary allocation of Invitation places to NOCs by 1 June 2008. The allocation of remaining Invitation places will be confirmed, in writing, to the NOCs by 16 June, 2008.
The minimum eligibility criteria also applies to Invitation places

Minimum eligibility criteria
Athletes eligible for selection for the Olympic Game shall be only those adequately prepared for high level international competition and fill qualification positions gained by their NOC.
Athlete eligibility will be gained by achieving a top 125 ITU Olympic Qualification Ranking (as of the 2008 ITU Triathlon World Championships scheduled for 15 June 2008) or by winning a place for their NOC at the 2008 Triathlon World Championship.
Athlete eligibility will be gained achieving one of the followings results: ・Winning a place for their NOC at the Continental Qualifier Events
・Winning a place for their NOC at the 2008 ITU Triathlon World Championships ・Being in the top 125 of the ITU Olympic Qualification Rankings
・Being in the top 125 of the ITU World Cup Rankings ・Being in the top 125 of the ITU points list

ITU は2008年6月16日までに書面で全ての出場枠をNOCに通知する。NOCは2008年6月30 日までにITU とBOCOGに各NOCの出場枠使用 の旨を通知する。使われない出場枠は下記 に明記されているプロセスに従い再配分される。そして、2008年7月7日までにITUは出場 枠の最終配分の確認を行う。
DATES / PROCESS OF CONFIRMATION OF PLACES
The ITU shall inform NOCs in writing of all qualification places by 16 June 2008. NOCs must inform ITU and BOCOG of the use of their qualification places by 30 June 2008. Any unused qualification places will be reallocated following the process specified below, and by 7 July 2008 the ITU will confirm the final allocation of qualification places.
未使用出場枠の再配分
全ての未使用出場枠は、上記出場資格選考制度のパラグラフｃ）に明記されている各NOC の選手数の上限を遵守し、ITUオリンピック出場資格ランキングに従い再配分される。

All unused quota places will be reallocated through the ITU Olympic Qualification Rankings, respecting the maximum number of athletes per NOC specified in the qualification system above, paragraph c).

6. ITU Olympic Qualification Points system:
a) The top fifty (50) athletes earn points at ITU World Cup and World Championship events. The top thirty (30) athletes earn points at ITU Continental Championships. b) Athletes must finish within a 10% cut-off (for both men and women)
c) The points will remain the same value throughout the entire qualification period. d) It will be based on the following points table.

ITU トライアスロンワールドカップ出場資格: a) 資格：選手はそのNFの会費を納めている会員であること、またITU規則で規定され ている違反を犯し資格が一時停止されている者ではないこと。 b) ワールドカップスポット 1∼25： ワールドカップランクからの自動的許可：大会 30日前のワールドカップランキング上位25人の選手が出場を認められる。 c) ワールドカップスポット26 ∼70：ITUポイントからの自動的許可：次の45人の選 手は大会30日前のITUポイントリストから選ばれる。 d) 国別定数：ITUワールドカップランキングとITUポイントを基にした定数は八(8)。 e) ホスト国定数：ITUワールドカップランキングとITUポイントを基にした「ホスト」 国の上限は十(10)。 f) ITU 招待枠： 選手のランクやNFの国別定数と無関係に、ITUは大会に利する限定 した選手を招待する権利を保有する。
g) 選考： もしNFに定数以上の出場資格を有する選手がいる場合、NFは上限を上回 らないチームを選ばなければならない。
注: 2006年の最初のワールドカップ三(3)大会については、ワールドカップランキング及び ITUポイントは2005年の年末現在の表を基にする。
9. Qualification for the ITU Triathlon World Cup:
a) Eligibility: Athletes must be members in good standing of their NF and not be under suspension for any violation as defined by the ITU Rules and Regulations.
b) World Cup Spots 1 to 25: Automatic Acceptance from World Cup Rank: the first 25 competitors will be accepted from the World Cup Rankings 30 days prior to the event.
c) World Cup Spots 26 to 70: Automatic Acceptance from ITU Points: The next 45 athletes will be selected from the ITU Points list 30 days prior to the event.
d) Country Quota: based on the ITU World Cup Ranking and the ITU points will be eight (8).
e) Host Country Quota: The maximum per “host” country based on the ITU World Cup Ranking and ITU points with be ten (10).
f) ITU Invitation: ITU reserves the right to invite a limited number of athletes for the good of the event irrespective of the athlete’s rank or NF country quota.
g) Selection: If an NF has more than the maximum number of qualified competitors, the NF must select the team not to exceed the maximum number.
Note: for the first three (3) World Cup events of 2006 the ITU World Cup Rankings and
ITU Points will be based on the 2005 year-end tables.
10. ITU トライアスロン世界選手権出場資格:

ポイントリストから選別された選手が出場資格を得る。 (既にITUワールドカップランキングにより出場資格を得ている選手は対象外と なる。) (iii) 最後の五(5)スポットは招待枠とする。二十一(21)日の期限後のワールドカップ 又はITUポイントリスト の変更は大会開催日十四(14)日前のワールドカップラ ンキングに戻される。 (iv) 国ごとの上限は六(6)とする。
10. Qualification for the ITU Triathlon World Championships:
a) Qualification to the World Championships will be:
(i) ITU World Cup Rankings: The top fifty (50) ranked athletes twenty-one (21) days prior to the date of the Championships will qualify for the ITU World Championships.
(ii) ITU Points list: The next twenty (20) will be taken from the ITU Points list twenty-one (21) days prior to the date of the event will qualify.
(Athletes qualified already by the ITU World Cup Ranking will not be eligible) (iii) The final five (5) spots will be for invitations, changes to the World Cup or ITU Points list after the twenty-one (21) day cut-off or will be returned to the
World Cup Ranking fourteen (14) days prior to the event. (iv) Maximum of six (6) per country.
