Summary

The intertidal communities of marine algae along the coasts of Naze 只ay, Amami-Oshima, was studied. The field work which forms the basis of this paper was carried out in the spring of 1965.

The results of the investigations have made it clear that the Monostroma nitidum­

Endarachne binghamiae community is distributed along the coasts of the bay. It consists of two belts, from above downwards, Monostroma nitidum and of Endarachne binghamiae belts. And there was recognized the marine algae, such as Enteromor ρ ha, Ulva pertusa, Gloio ρ eltis furcata, Getz

dium pusillum, Collinsiella tuber α1 lata, Sargassum th

bergii, Turbinaria ornata, etc. in the community. The physiognomic type of this community belongs to the Greer ^ト Brown type (T ANIGUTI 1961).
