次の英文は,ユキ(Yuki)が,英語の授業で行ったスピーチです。これを読んで,あとの(⚑)~ (⚓)に答えなさい。*印の語句には,スピーチのあとに(注)があります。(21 点)I like books. I started to read books when I was four years old. There were so many books in my house. When I was a little child, my parents read many books to me. That made me a girl who loves books.
Do you like books ? According to one survey, 70% of the Japanese junior high school students answered, “I like books” or “I prefer to read books.” Then, how many hours do they read books in a day ? In the same survey, 35.4% of them don’t read any books from Monday to Friday. I am sorry to know that. If we read books, we can get knowledge and wisdom. We can learn words and expressions from the books. And we can get good imagination through the books. These things we get from books will help to communicate with other people and give us many ideas to make new things.
Some people may say, “We don’t have books to read and we don’t know what to read.” But we have school libraries and public libraries. They have many kinds of books and I have spent much time there. We can find books we want to read. In the same survey, 57.8% of the students almost never go there. I hope more students go to libraries and read many books.

Yoshiko said to Kenji, “I hear you went to the zoo. How was your job experience ?” Kenji said, “Before the job experience, I thought I could give food directly to animals and sometimes play with them. I was very excited then. But actually, I made food and cleaned all around the zoo. And I didn’t have any time to talk with the guests in the zoo. I think your experience was better than mine.” Mr. Johnson said to Kenji, “Why do you say so ?” Kenji said, “Because I had to do the same boring jobs for a long time. They were hard, and not rewarding. So, I didn’t like the jobs in the zoo.”
Yoshiko said, “I understand your feelings, but thanks to your hard work, the guests were able to have a good time and the zoo was always clean. Though you did the same jobs for a long time, they were very important and necessary for the guests in the zoo. Your work led to their smiles.” Mr. Johnson said to Kenji, “I agree with Yoshiko. You should have more pride in your jobs. Your job experience will help you very much when you choose a job in the future.”
Kenji said, “I think so, too. I want to do some more jobs before I find my job in the future.” Yoshiko said, “You will be lucky if you can find a nice job. I also want to try many kinds of jobs and it’s necessary for me.”
