Any warranty information is superseded by the HP warranty term provided in the warranty document.
Hardware installation
If the Audigy 2 ZS sound card is integrated with the system, skip to step 12 for software installation. For additional information on removing hardware from a workstation, refer to the Installation and
Application CD provided with your system.
1. Turn off your computer and unplug the AC power cable.
3. Install the sound card and secure the brackets.
NOTE: For xw8000 only: The audio card can be installed in any PCI slot, but HP recommends PCI slot 1 or 2 because they use a 32-bit bus and the card support arm provides added mechanical support and protection against shipping damage.
When the sound card is installed in a 64-bit PCI slot, the entire 64-bits bus runs at only 32-bits 33Mhz mode. This action can degrade the system performance if another 64-bit PCI device is installed on the same bus. However, if there is no 32-bit PCI bus available, use PCI slot 3 since it is an isolated 64-bit bus slot.
4. Disconnect the CD audio cable and front I/O cable from the system board. To remove the cables on the xw8000:

5. Plug in the front I/O and audio cable to the adapter cable as described below for your system. For the xw8000:
If the front I/O cable has a 2x10 large connector, use the V adapter cable. a. Connect the cable to the V adapter as in the following image.

b. Connect the male side of the V adapter cable to the front I/O cable header.
NOTE: The male side of the V adapter cable must be oriented correctly when connected to the front cable header (see Adapter connector image below). The two connector guides must be on the same side.
c. Connect the female white side of the V adapter cable to the white sound card header (J1).
d. Connect the female black header to the system board connector where the original front I/O cable was connected.

For the xw6000 and xw4100:
If your system has a 2x5 black header connector, use the straight adapter cable. a. Connect the cable to the straight adapter as shown in the following image.
b. Connect the male side of the straight adapter cable to the front cable header.
c. Connect the female side of the straight adapter cable to the white sound card header (J1). 6. Connect the CD audio cable to the CD_IN connector of the sound card. The other end should remain
connected to the optical disk drive.
7. Fasten the adaptor cable and/or front I/O cables to the bottom of the chassis depending on the model as shown below. Add the new clip in the location shown and then fasten the cable(s) into the clip(s). For xw8000:

8. Attach the black xw8000 card support arm to the green AGP card support bracket in the slot that aligns with the card position (PCI slot 1 or 2).
9. Install the AGP card support bracket in the chassis.

10. Close the chassis side cover.
11. Connect the AC power, turn on the computer, and wait for the system to boot. If the new hardware found wizard comes up, click Cancel.
12. Insert the Installation and Application CD into the CD-ROM drive. The installation software starts automatically. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the driver and applications for the sound card. 13. After you have installed the software, refer to the “Online manual” or your speaker manufacturer
documentation for instructions on how to connect the speaker to your system. To find the online manual, select Start > Programs > Creative > Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS > Documentation > Online Manual. NOTE: When the sound card is installed in the system, the internal chassis speaker only functions for diagnostic beeps and does not play any other sound. The rear audio connectors on the system board are also disabled when the Audigy 2 ZS sound card is installed. Use the audio output from the Audigy 2 ZS sound card for audio connection to the external audio device.
NOTE: When using the digital out of the sound card, refer to “Digital output” to prevent Electro Magnetic Interference.
Digital output
When using the digital output of the sound card, the audio gasket needs to be installed in all platforms to prevent Electro Magnetic Interference, according to FCC Class B limits.
1. Identify the audio gasket.

2. Install the audio gasket on the audio connector.

3. Now that the audio connector is equipped with the audio gasket, plug in the audio connector into the sound card.

5. フ ロ ン ト I/O と オーデ ィ オ ケーブルを、 以下の よ う にアダプ タ ケーブルに差 し 込みます。 xw8000 の場合 ： フ ロ ン ト I/O ケーブルが 2x10 ラ ージ コ ネ ク タ の場合、 V アダプ タ ケーブルを使用 し ます。 a. 下に示す よ う に、 ケーブルをV アダプ タ に接続 し ます。 V アダプ タ ケーブル b. V アダプ タ ケーブルのオ ス側を、 フ ロ ン ト I/O ケーブル ヘ ッ ダに接続 し ます。 注記: V アダプ タ ケーブルのオ ス側は、 フ ロ ン ト ケーブル ヘ ッ ダに正 し い方向で接続 さ れる必要があ り ま す （下のア ダプ タ コ ネ ク タ の イ メ ージ を参照）。 2 つの コ ネ ク タ ガ イ ド が、 同 じ側にあ る必要があ り ます。 c. CD オーデ ィ オ ケーブルをサ ウ ン ド カー ド の CD_IN コ ネ ク タ に接続 し ます。 も う 片方はオ プテ ィ カル ド ラ イ ブに接続 し た ま ま に し ます。 7. モデルに よ っ て以下の と お り 、 アダプ タ ケーブル と / ま たはフ ロ ン ト I/O ケーブルを シ ャー シの底面につな ぎ ます。 ご覧の よ う に新 し い ク リ ッ プ を追加 し 、 その ク リ ッ プにケーブルを つな ぎ ます。 xw8000 の場合 ： xw8000 用ケーブル ルー ト xw6000 お よ び xw4100 の場合 ： xw6000 と xw4100 用ケーブル ルー ト 8. 黒色の xw8000 カー ド サポー ト アーム を、 カー ド の位置を調整する ス ロ ッ ト （PCI ス ロ ッ ト 1 ま たは 2） にあ る緑色の AGP カー ド サポー ト ブ ラ ケ ッ ト に接続 し ます。 Audigy 保持ク リ ッ プ
9. シ ャーシの中に AGP カー ド サポー ト ブ ラ ケ ッ ト を取 り 付け ます。

11. AC 電源を接続 し 、 コ ン ピ ュー タ に電源を入れ、 シ ス テ ムが起動する のを待ち ます。 新 し い ハー ド ウ ェ ア を入れ る こ と で ウ ィ ザー ド が立ち上がっ た場合は、[Cancel] を ク リ ッ ク し ます。 12. 『Installation and Application CD』 を CD-ROM ド ラ イ ブに挿入 し ます。 イ ン ス ト ール ソ フ ト
ウ ェ アが自動的に起動 し ます。 画面の指示に従い、 サ ウ ン ド カー ド の ド ラ イ バ と アプ リ ケー
シ ョ ン を イ ン ス ト ール し ます。
13. シ ス テ ムに ス ピーカーを接続する方法については、 ソ フ ト ウ ェ ア を イ ン ス ト ール し た後、 「オ ン ラ イ ン マニ ュ アル」 ま たはス ピーカーの製造元の ド キ ュ メ ン ト を参照 し て く だ さ い。 [Start]、 [Programs]、 [Creative]、 [Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS]、 [Documentation]、 [ オン ラ イ ン マ ニ ュ アル] の順に ク リ ッ ク する と 、 オン ラ イ ン マニ ュ アルを読む こ と がで き ます。 注記: サ ウ ン ド カー ド がシ ス テ ムに取 り 付け ら れてい る場合、 シ ャーシ ス ピーカーは診断ビープ音 と し て のみ機能 し 、 その他の音は出 し ません。Audigy 2 ZS サ ウ ン ド カー ド が取 り 付け ら れてい る場合は、 シ ス テ ム ボー ド の リ ア オーデ ィ オ コ ネ ク タ も 無効にな り ます。 外部オーデ ィ オ装置 と オーデ ィ オ接続する には、 Audigy 2 ZS サ ウ ン ド カー ド か ら オーデ ィ オ出力 し て く だ さ い。 注記: サ ウ ン ド カー ド のデジ タ ル出力を使用する場合は、 電磁波を防ぐ ために 「デジ タ ル出力」 を参照 し て く だ さ い。

FCC Class B 制限に よ り 、 サ ウ ン ド カー ド のデジ タ ル出力を使用する場合、 電磁波を防ぐ ために、 オーデ ィ オ ガ ス ケ ッ ト をすべてのプ ラ ッ ト フ ォームに取 り 付けてお く 必要があ り ます。 1. オーデ ィ オ ガ ス ケ ッ ト を識別 し ます。 オーデ ィ オ ガスケ ッ ト 2. オーデ ィ オ ガ ス ケ ッ ト をオーデ ィ オ コ ネ ク タ に取 り 付け ます。 オーデ ィ オ コ ネ ク タ に取 り 付け られたオーデ ィ オ ガスケ ッ ト （ス ピー カーの実際のオー デ ィ オ コ ネ ク タ は写真 と 異なる場合があ り ます）3. オーデ ィ オ コ ネ ク タ に、 オーデ ィ オ ガ ス ケ ッ ト が装備 さ れてい ますので、 オーデ ィ オ コ ネ ク タ を サ ウ ン ド カー ド に差 し 込みます。
