Soil Treatment

Apply Hero Insecticide by ground equipment to soil beneath avocado trees. Hero Insecticide must be uniformly applied to the drip line of the tree; apply in a minimum of 40 gallons of dilute spray per acre.

Trunk Treatment

Apply to the trunk, scaffolding, and limbs of the tree as a directed spray in the early spring or before adult beetle flight and tree infestation. Uniform coverage of the tree is critical for pest control. Spray 10 trees with water to determine the amount of spray that is needed for thorough coverage, without runoff, from the soil line to approximately 10 feet into the tree canopy. Measure the amount of water needed to refill the spray tank to its initial level, then calculate the amount of spray needed per acre, e.g., if it took 0.5 gallons to spray 10 trees and there are 180 trees per acre then you will need 9 gal/A of spray mix (0.5 X (180/10)). Based on the number of acres to be sprayed, put that amount of water per acre in the spray tank along with the appropriate amount of Hero Insecticide. Surfactants can improve pest control. A nonionic surfactant is recommended.

Do not apply within one year of harvest.
