What is a Community Association (Ku-Kai) in Tsukuba City? It’s a voluntary
organization which is made up by the neighborhood community and conducts various
kinds of activities related to the citizens’ lives for the purpose of making the local
community happy, comfortable and peaceful. It is expected to be cooperative to build
the city and to be an organization for mutual aid for catastrophes. The most reliable
ones in a pinch are your neighbors. We recommend you join the Community
Association to have this relationship with your neighbors.
Information Activity

If you join the Community Association of your district, you can get administrative information by
circulating and your neighbors will quickly help you in catastrophes because of the communications
as the members of the association.
Anytime you can join the Community Association. Please ask a member of the Community
Association of your district or your neighbors about the application.
If there is no Community Association in your district....
You can organize a new Community Association if there isn’t one in your district. If you are going
to organize one, first, you need to get consensus from the households which agree the aim of
establishment in your district. Second, you need to select the representative. Third, submit the necessary documents to the committee. Contact the Tsukuba Community Associations Union

The Community Association in Tsukuba City
There are almost 600 Community Associations are functioning. The Union Organization of Community Association is organized with the superior organization, the Tsukuba City Community
Association Union and the branch Community Association Unions which were established in the six
towns before the merger.
In each union, they set up general meetings and trainings in which the presidents attend.
The Tsukuba Community Associations Union Office is set up in the Municipal Development Division of the City Hall.
