Kumamoto University establishes the followings regarding Conflict of Interest (hereafter referred to as “COI”) Policies and Regulations on COI to fulfill accountability to the public and transparency which are required in the activities in industry-academia-government collaboration.

The Disclosure Statement (PartⅠ) must be submitted to the committee by faculty and staff who are promoting industry-academia-government collaboration activities at the end of each academic year.
(The Regulation in Article 6, paragraph 2)
For the purpose of preventing or eliminating conflicts of interest for faculty and staff as defined in any of items under paragraph (2) of Article 3, the committee shall report the examination result to the president and the head of a division that the faculty and staff concerned belongs to, and notify the faculty and staff concerned in accordance with the rule of laws, Kumamoto University Regulations, COI Policies and the examination precedent of the committee.

In the event of any of the following items that the commission will use as the criteria of judgements, the faculty and staff may be judged to be significantly departing from the conventional wisdom about Conflict of Interests.
1. If the situation that the faculty and staff gave the priority to the personal gain during performing their duties at Kumamoto University is seen objectively
2. If the situation that the faculty and staff spent more time for external activities than performing their duties at Kumamoto University is seen objectively
In accordance with the Regulations, this examination shall be carried out as follows.

If your answer to any of the questions in the COI Disclosure Statement (PartⅠ) is 'Yes', please submit the COI Disclosure Statement (PartⅠ).
If you submit the COI Disclosure Statement (PartⅠ), Disclosure Statement (Part Ⅱ) will need to be submitted. For details, we will contact you afterwards.

"Industry-academia-government collaboration activities" in this Disclosure Statement shall mean the followings:
- Joint Research and/or Commissioned Research (including clinical trials) - Technology transfer of any intellectual property
- Acceptance of research grants or donations*
- A side job, such as lecturer of lecture, management of venture business, consulting activities and etc.
- Other industry-academia-government collaboration activities motivated by personal gain
