GENERAL INFORMATION

Registration

The registration will start during the Welcome Reception at the Awa Oriental Dinning Tokushima (in front of the JR Tokushima Station; please refer to the City Map on page 5) on 11th September (Tuesday) from 18:00 to 20:00. On 12th and 13th also, the Registration Desk at the conference venue (i.e., Memorial Hall of Alumni at Tokushima University Jyosanjima Campus) will be open from 08:00.

Presentations

All young participants who have submitted the papers will have 15 minutes for oral presentation and 5 minutes for floor discussion, while an Invited Lecture is allocated 40 minutes for presentation.

All presenters are kindly requested to copy their presentation files to the computer in the conference hall during the previous coffee break. The presentations should be made in English.

Workshop

The conference will feature “Mini Soil Tower” contest by all delegates during the conference. All delegates are grouped into eight teams. Each team tries to make the strongest soil column with the diameter of 5 cm such as a specimen of unconfined compression test. Soil materials and equipment are provided by the organizer. Each team gives a presentation of the making of the soil column with respect to the originality, creativity, rationality etc. The best team will be awarded after the contest. The structure and details will be announced during the conference. Awards

One Best Paper Award will be given with due recommendations from the Scientific Committee to the best paper presented in the conference. In addition, one Best Presentation Award and one Best Student Award will be given with due recommendations from the Local Organizing Committee to the selected presenters.

Technical Tour

The Technical Tour for Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge will be started at 9:00 AM on September 14th. The tour bus will pick up the participants from the Toyoko Inn Tokushima Ekimae Hotel.

Terms of participation in Bridge tour:

Please dress appropriate for walking because the participants should walk more than 2km. The destination of the tour is 300m high above the sea level. Those who are acrophobia or claustrophobia, therefore, are not recommended to join the tour.
